In this powerful panel discussion, held as part of VETS’ advocacy efforts for HB 3717-The Texas Ibogaine Initiative, key advocates, researchers, and veterans dive deep into the promise of ibogaine-assisted therapy for PTSD, TBI, opioid use disorder, and other service-related conditions. Hear from Amber Capone, Marcus Capone, Nolan Williams, W. Bryan Hubbard, Matty Roberts, Robert Gallery, Jon Shenk, and AnneClaire Stapleton as they share how ibogaine is bringing hope to countless veterans and why passing HB 3717 is essential to making this treatment accessible in the U.S. Dr. Nolan Williams of Stanford University put it best: “Most everybody got better and they got better in a big way for a long time. The need for better veteran care is overwhelming. Policy must change to meet it. As Amber Capone highlighted at the Texas Ibogaine Initiative Press Conference, demand for psychedelic-assisted therapy is skyrocketing. Applications to our programs have surged over 400% in the first few months of 2025-a clear sign of the urgent demand for more effective treatment options. The Texas Ibogaine Initiative-HB 3717 is a crucial step toward meeting this need. This bill aims to fund research and improve access to psychedelic-assisted therapy across the state. By leading the charge in responsible policy reform, we can ensure veterans have access to the innovative treatments they deserve. 🔔 How you can help: ✅ Share this post to spread the word! ✅ Learn more about the Texas Ib0gaine Initiative: bit.ly/vetshb3717 ✅ Support policy to expand psychedel!c research and access with a donation to VETS: vetsolutions.org/donate

Real progress requires leaders who are willing to push past conventional boundaries and consider new possibilities. Thank you to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, for being open to exploring new solutions to veteran care. We’re grateful to Shawn Ryan for using his platform to advocate for veterans, highlighting the healing potential of psychedelic-assisted therapy, and sharing about the work of VETS and other nonprofits. 🎥 Watch the full episode and join the mission: bit.ly/4jb4y2m 🔗 Learn more at vetsolutions.org #VeteransAffairs #VeteranSupport #VETS #Nonprofit

Women in the military community carry so much. Whether on the frontlines or holding it down at home, female veterans and military spouses face burnout, stress, and trauma with powerful resilience. But resilience shouldn’t mean going at it alone. In her latest blog, VETS Women’s Program Director Breanna Caldwell explores how self-care isn’t selfish-it’s foundational. From setting boundaries to finding community, she reminds us that healing starts within. 💛 When women invest in their well-being, they build stronger families, relationships, and futures. 👉 Head to the blog to read the full piece: https://lnkd.in/eHvWtyV9 Lauren Eckert Myers #WomenWhoLead #WomenWhoServed #MilitarySpouse #Healing #VETS #Nonprofit

A powerful day of advocacy in Austin. 🤝 Last week, VETS led a Legislative Day of Action at the Texas Capitol, joined by veterans and advocates in support of the Texas Ibogaine Initiative (HB 3717)-a bill that aims to fund research on ibogaine-assisted therapy. The day began with a press conference, where VETS CEO and Co-founders, Marcus Capone and Amber Capone emphasized the devastating reality of the veteran suicide crisis and urged policymakers to act swiftly in supporting alternative, evidence-based approaches to care. Throughout the day, the VETS team and supporters met with legislators to share both the science and personal stories behind psychedelic-assisted therapies. Our time in Texas concluded with a private screening of In Waves and War—a powerful documentary that follows Marcus Capone and fellow former Navy SEALs DJ Shipley and Matty Roberts as they navigate their healing journeys through ibogaine-assisted therapy. The screening was followed by an insightful panel discussion featuring Dr. Nolan Williams-who led the Stanford University ibogaine study in collaboration with VETS-alongside Marcus and Amber, W. Bryan Hubbard, Matty Roberts, Robert Gallery, and film director Jon Shenk. Together, they explored the science, personal transformation, and urgent need to expand access to psychedelic therapies for veterans. We’re grateful to the lawmakers and supporters who showed up, listened, and are helping to transform veteran care. 💬 “This is a crisis of unimaginable proportions—and it’s largely avoidable.” Last week, at the Texas Ibogaine Initiative Press Conference, VETS CEO and Co-founder Amber Capone delivered a powerful message: 🔹 The veteran suicide epidemic is a preventable crisis and it must be addressed through responsible policy change. 🔹 Veterans are urgently seeking psychedelic-assisted therapies with compounds such as ibogaine as an alternative to failed traditional treatments for service-related conditions. But VETS alone cannot meet the growing demand. 🔹 HB 3717-the Texas Ibogaine Initiative-would open the door to psychedelic research, help expand safe clinical access in Texas, and set the standard for other states to follow.

“We lose between 17 and 44 veterans to suicide every day; that’s a staggering number when you think about the delays that clinical researchers face” when seeking government approvals to study psychedelic treatments that could effectively reduce the disproportionate incidence of suicide among US veterans. Appreciated the chance to speak with Jane Hu at The Microdose, an independent journalism newsletter from the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics, about Assembly Bill 1103 recently introduced in the California Legislature, and why it's an urgent priority for VETS, Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions, Inc. The bill expedites state approval of DEA-sanctioned psychedelics research conducted in California to investigate treatments for PTSD, traumatic brain injury, treatment-resistant depression, substance use disorder and other mental health conditions fueling the disproportionate incidence of suicide among US veterans. For more effective treatments to make it to suffering veterans, their families and other Americans in time to save lives, these treatments first need to make it all the way through the drug development and approval process. Any delay in commencing clinical research studies also delays the availability of those treatments, and carries an unacceptable human cost that must be carefully balanced with legitimate concerns about diversion and the protection of human research subjects in California.
