Ensuring access to care for those living with a life-limiting illness through our commitment to Caring. Living. Healing.

About us

Since 1985, Valley Hospice has been committed to providing excellent end-of life care for our family, friends and neighbors throughout the Ohio Valley. Our care based on the unique values, end-of-life goals and wishes of each person we serve. We care for patients at home, in nursing facilities or wherever they call home. Our caring staff is specially trained to help patients live life to the fullest with dignity while encouraging spiritual and emotional healing. We are proud to offer programs that set us apart from other hospices: “A Hero’s Salute” specialized end-of-life care and support to patients who have served in the military; “A Plan for Living” advanced directives program; “Whispered Wishes,” a program that grants end of-life wishes; “Meaningful Moments, resources for individuals and families dealing with dementia; and “Bobby’s Books,” using books to help build a child’s coping skills. Valley Hospice also offers the area’s only inpatient care centers: Valley Hospice Mary Jane Brooks Care Center North, in Steubenville and Valley Hospice Liza’s Place Care Center South, in Wheeling. To us, every patient is the most important patient! Anyone call call our referral center, at 740-859-5660, for more information.

  • Valley Hospice was a proud sponsor of the Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women's Club Wine & Shoe Extravaganza held last week at St. Florian Hall. All proceeds from this event benefit the groups scholarship program. We are always happy to support our local community and celebrate inspirational women who do so much for others! • Congratulations to our very first Community Dove Award recipient, Davis Brothers Pharmacy, of New Cumberland, WV. Davis Brothers Pharmacy stayed open late to make sure a newly admitted Valley Hospice patient got the medication they needed. They even delivered the medication directly to the patient. Valley Hospice Access RN, Bre, had the honor of delivering the award. A big thank you to everyone at Davis Brothers Pharmacy for going above and beyond for a member of their community! The Dove Award is a long-standing tradition at Valley Hospice. Employees nominate their peers based on commitment to our company values: Teamwork, Integrity, Performance, Spirituality, Mission Focus and Engagement. The Community Dove Award is a special recognition for members of the community who have gone above and beyond for Valley Hospice patients, families and staff.

  • Valley Hospice, along with other national, state and community organizations, are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making – an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). As a participating organization since the start of the program, Valley Hospice is providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will) in accordance with Ohio and West Virginia state laws. “As a result of National Healthcare Decisions Day, many more people in our community can be expected to have thoughtful conversations about their healthcare decisions and complete reliable advance directives to make their wishes known,” said Robert Kolb, MSW, Valley Hospice social worker. “Fewer families and healthcare providers will have to struggle with making difficult healthcare decisions in the absence of guidance from the patient, and healthcare providers and facilities will be better equipped to address advance healthcare planning issues before a crisis and be better able to honor wishes when the time comes to do so.” Visit our website for a full list of community events happening throughout the month of April. https://lnkd.in/ew3Dr2E6

  • Happy National Doctors' Day to our amazing doctors at Valley Hospice, and all of the doctors we are privileged to work with! We honor your dedication, skill and unwavering commitment to providing high-quality health care. We could not do the work we do without the support of our local physicians and their commitment to ensuring our communities have access to excellent end-of-life care.

  • Happy birthday to Valley Hospice patient, Marie Anile, who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday! Marie said all she wanted for her birthday was a lobster tail and a gin and tonic! Her family flew in, all the way from California, and took her to Ditka’s for a special birthday dinner. Marie’s room at Hope Cottage was decorated with cheerful birthday decorations and her Valley Hospice PCA, Angelica, delivered a delicious cake and beautiful flowers. It was a wonderful celebration honoring Marie's incredible milestone and the many memories she has shared with everyone over the years. This celebration was made possible, in part, by the Valley Hospice Whispered Wishes Program, a program that grants end-of-life wishes to our patients. This program is run solely on donations and would not be possible without the support of our generous community! To learn more about Whispered Wishes, visit our website at https://lnkd.in/eyNwCik9.
