A recent survey from the American Cancer Society reported that 61% of cancer patients found it somewhat or very difficult to afford their care. That's why we focus on creating strategic payer relationships within The Network that help practices grow while also making care more affordable for patients. We believe growing a robust community oncology system is the way to get the best of both worlds. Find out how we do it here: https://lnkd.in/g8wtVc2m #CommunityOncology #CancerCare #HealthcareCosts

Bringing healthcare innovation directly to patients is one of our driving goals at The Network, and we're always excited to see technology making a real impact in patient care. Recently, Texas Oncology and Canopy entered into a collaboration that will help cancer patients get the support they need from their own homes. Using remote monitoring and AI, Canopy will allow patients to opt into a system that records their symptoms between appointments. This real-time data will help care teams proactively assess whether a patient needs additional care before their next visit. Canopy integrates with iKnowMed, the EHR system from Ontada, McKesson's insights and technology business, that Texas Oncology already uses. This information ecosystem will help care teams stay on top of patients' symptoms and determine the best follow-up treatment options without the patient needing to leave home. “We know that it will improve our symptom response time, and we’ve already demonstrated it will lead to better symptom control, reduced ER visits, reduced hospitalization, and reduced total cost of care,” says Debra Patt, MD PhD MBA, Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Strategy for Texas Oncology. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the US, but it's also preventable and treatable in many cases. Thanks to advanced research and clinical trials, our understanding of these diseases continues to increase, making living with cancer more possible than ever. April is National Cancer Control Month, a time set aside to raise awareness about cancer prevention and treatment in the US. We're grateful for all the dedicated providers and practices in The Network who are working hard to detect cancer early, provide support for patients, and apply the latest technology for better treatments. #CancerControl #CommunityOncology #CancerDetection

We're excited to be heading to the 50th annual ONS Congress in Denver next week! In addition to the chance to meet and learn with our peers, there will be lots of great presentations and posters from practices in The Network, including Virginia Cancer Specialists, P.C., Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Alliance Cancer Specialists, PC, Texas Oncology, Willamette Valley Cancer Institute & Research Center, and Virginia Oncology Associates. And don't miss the presentation on April 11th from our very own Heather Wood about the principles of online learning and how they apply to nursing education. Alden Egan will also be hosting a roundtable on best practices for central lines, specifically around saline-only flushing protocols. Hope to see you there! https://lnkd.in/eefhxMMv #ONSCongress #OncologyNursing #NursingEducation

We live in an age of rapidly advancing medical research, which means choosing the right treatment for patients can be tricky. In this episode of the Oncology Decoded podcast, panelists discussed treatment for hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) and the question of when--and how--to optimize or intensify therapy. The discussion included Manoj Bupathi, MD, MS, president and medical oncologist at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers; Benjamin Garmezy, MD, Assistant Director of Genitourinary Research at the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI); and Mark Fleming, MD, Disease Chair of the Genitourinary Cancer Research Executive Committee for SCRI at Virginia Oncology Associates. Ultimately, the conversation stressed the importance of personalized care and ongoing research, two things The Network is focused on supporting within the oncology care community. 🎧 Listen to Episode 2 and join the conversation! https://lnkd.in/dvt-bRJW #ProstateCancer #CancerCare #CancerResearch

READ: This report from the Community Oncology Alliance (COA) emphasizes the healthcare reforms needed to improve care and accessibility. At The Network, we believe in the important role of community oncology practices when it comes to ensuring that patients can access the care they need. "Our healthcare system has reached a critical tipping point as Americans pay more than ever for healthcare that is becoming increasingly out of reach," says Debra Patt, MD PhD MBA, Executive Vice President of Texas Oncology, Medical Director for Public Policy for The US Oncology Network, and President of the COA. "As stewards of our cancer care system, we feel it is our duty to provide Congress with a blueprint for meaningful reform that protects independent community medical practices and the millions of patients they care for." Surgeons play a critical role in The Network, bringing their unique expertise to the practices they support. Beyond driving practice growth, they are on the front lines of cancer prevention and treatment. Take colorectal cancer, for example—surgeons can remove precancerous polyps found during routine colonoscopies, preventing cancer before it starts. With March as National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, now is the perfect time to ensure your screenings are up to date. Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., but when caught early, it is highly treatable. We’re deeply grateful for the surgeons, physicians, and healthcare professionals in The Network who empower patients to take charge of their health. Early detection saves lives—schedule your screening today. Ted Voloyiannis #NationalColorectalCancerAwarenessMonth #ColorectalCancer #CancerCare

As a leader in cancer research, we believe in making clinical trials more widely available to help in the fight against cancer. That's why we're excited about the BRUIN CLL-321 trial, which is the first randomized phase III study to evaluate outcomes in patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) after treatment with covalent BTK inhibitors. The trial's findings were presented at #ASH24 by Jeff Sharman M.D., Director of Research at the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute & Research Center and Medical Director of Hematology Research at the Sarah Cannon Research Institute. These results offer promising potential for a tolerable, non-chemotherapy option for high-risk CLL and SLL patients. Find out more about Dr. Sharman's research here: https://lnkd.in/gt-Wu8UA #ClinicalTrials #CancerCare #Leukemia
