Mayor Craig Greenberg recently announced that Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be the first agency in Kentucky to deliver pre-hospital blood and blood products to patients in the field. Jason Smith, M.D., trauma surgeon and UofL Health Chief Medical Officer, notes that "the sooner we can transfuse someone, the better their chances are of living through their trauma," with patient survival rates improving on average 75-85% when blood is given in the field.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕 Jerry Steinberg shared the love with our Brown Cancer Center staff by delivering 93 meals to our staff in Radiation Oncology and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Outpatient Clinic. Jerry does this in honor of his daughter, Meghan, who was an acute myeloid leukemia patient and died in 2016. He is the founder of Meghan’s Mountain and a new member of the Regional Cancer Center Corporation.
