🧒 👶 👧 Debunking Myths About Developmental Screening From April 6–12, we celebrate the Week of the Young Child—a time to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. While we cherish the growth and milestones of our little ones every day, this week also gives us a chance to raise awareness about the resources that support their development. Yet, when it comes to developmental screenings, many parents still hold onto misconceptions that prevent them from accessing this important tool. It’s time to break down these myths and uncover the truth about why developmental screenings matter. Early screenings provide critical insights, ensuring timely support and safeguarding your child's privacy along the way. 👉 Read our latest blog https://bit.ly/4i2quvO to learn the facts behind common myths and why every parent should consider a screening for their child. Building More Equitable Communities, Together
About us
United Way of Massachusetts Bay exists to build more equitable communities, together. With over 85 years of local impact in eastern Massachusetts, we work with and for our communities to build economic prosperity and enable everyone–across races and ethnicities–to share in the knowledge, wealth and resources available. We believe that the key to unlocking opportunity is uniting people, and we bring together individuals, community leaders, corporate partners, legislators and organizations to build a powerful engine of change. We fuel new ideas, develop programs and take innovative approaches to solve some of the region’s most entrenched and systemic inequities. With communities at the center of everything we do, we unlock avenues of prosperity that uplift those who have been marginalized, and create opportunity. We believe in the possibility of vibrant, abundant, prosperous, healthy and equitable future through the power of the united collective. "This is a model that needs to be lifted up!" Massachusetts Executive Office of Education Secretary and DESE Commissioner Patrick Tutwiler, PhD toured the Nettle Middle in Haverhill this week to see the innovative Community Schools strategy in action. Other dignitaries attending the event included State Representatives Andy Vargas and Ryan Hamilton, Haverhill School Superintendent Margaret Marotta Smith , Haverhill School Committee member Thomas Grannemann, Marty Martinez, the new President and CEO at United Way of Massachusetts Bay, Haverhill Education Association President Barry Davis and YMCA Regional Executive Director Tracy Fuller.
