We are deeply grateful to our incredible doctors for their unwavering dedication to our patients and the community.   • Congratulations to Megan Smith (Respiratory Therapy), Leigh Hughes (Anesthesia), and Richie Koonce (Plant Engineering), our March President's Service Excellence Award recipients! We are so lucky to have you all on our team! Excerpt from Megan's recognition: "Megan believes in treating her patients as they were her family or friends. She excels in putting patients at ease for their diagnostic testing. The patient’s understanding and participation during a pulmonary function study is key to getting accurate results. Megan has a knack for relating to her patients and is able to push them to give their very best effort. Megan is able to help relax the patient and take their mind off of the process so that they aren’t so nervous. Her excellent communication skills and positive nature is a definite asset to our patients and community.” Excerpt from Leigh's recognition: “Leigh demonstrates the value of Knowing by fully understanding the intricacies behind each resource she provides to support patient care. She is deeply aware of how each detail contributes to delivering high-quality care. She has spearheaded several initiatives to improve the Anesthesia Department, including maintaining records for equipment maintenance, selling outdated equipment, and reorganizing supplies to improve efficiency and minimize waste.” Excerpt from Richie's recognition: "He is consistently ready to assist during emergencies and community events, offering effective solutions and ideas with a positive, “can-do” attitude. Richie’s easy-going personality has earned him numerous compliments from his coworkers. He’s always quick to share how much he enjoys both his job and his colleagues. Richie is also eager to help with extra hospital or community events, providing invaluable “behind the scenes” support. His contributions are greatly appreciated by those responsible for organizing these events, and he exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding team player.”

  • Congratulations to Joseph Tyndall (Sleep Services), Julie Gautier (Quality & Patient Safety), and Ladonna Dilday (Occupational Therapy), our February President's Service Excellence Award recipients! We are so lucky to have you all on our team! Excerpt from Joseph's recognition: “Joseph plays a vital role in conducting diagnostic tests for a wide range of sleep-related pathologies. He works closely with our significant population of patients suffering from congestive heart failure and COPD, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Our facility is the only one in the area to offer such a comprehensive range of diagnostic testing. Joseph's expertise ensures that physicians receive accurate, high-quality results to make well-informed medical decisions for even the most complex patient cases.” Excerpt from Julie's recognition: “Julie has been a dedicated member of the organization for over 14 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Julie advocated for the use of clear masks in hospitals, ensuring that the deaf community and their caregivers could continue to read lips while masks were required. Julie's expertise and meticulous approach have enabled her to collaborate on various quality improvement initiatives within the organization. She is humble, dedicated, and consistently strives to "do the right thing." Her advocacy extends to educating staff and physicians on sepsis and other critical quality initiatives, reinforcing her commitment to patient care. She willingly assists with projects beyond her immediate role, exemplifying a true team-oriented approach.” Excerpt from Ladonna's recognition: “Ladonna Dilday joined UNC Health Lenoir’s outpatient Occupational Therapy department as an OT Assistant on March 7, 2022. Since then, she has grown into a highly skilled clinical therapist while upholding some of the highest standards in customer service. Ladonna is well-loved by her colleagues and brings an uplifting presence to the outpatient gym. No matter what kind of day she’s having, she remains a source of positivity, always smiling and sharing her witty sense of humor—often referencing movie characters in a way that makes everyone laugh.”
