Jim Rine, president of UMB Financial Corporation, and president and CEO of UMB Bank, discussed how we plan to integrate Heartland Financial's systems with ours in an interview with the Kansas City Business Journal. "It’s all hands on deck and it has certainly taken up most of our IT and operations department. Priority one is to make sure that it is as seamless as possible for former HTLF clients as well as UMB clients. We have experience with the things that we’re converting, so we have some muscle memory built up as far as that goes." — Jim Rine

Integral to long-term success, growth is a word that may come with mixed emotions for business owners over the past few years. Between inflation and higher interest rates to uncertainty around the 2024 election, many business owners have been focused on strategically managing their businesses and bottom lines, prioritizing management and cash flow over finding ways to grow. In November, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued a risk alert for fund managers that highlighted some deficiencies and weaknesses in its examinations of funds over the past four years. Fund managers, and especially those newer to registered funds or who deal with illiquid investments, may find the staff comments about past exams especially eye opening. We sat down with Dan Kieffer, director of asset allocation, to learn how he shaped his career and how it led him to UMB. "Money can be a difficult topic for many people. It is wildly important, personal, and misunderstood. There are few opportunities to make impactful contributions to people’s lives and being able to help people with their money is one of them. When it comes to managing wealth, people run into scary and complicated problems, and we are there to help fix them." Read more about how taking “smart risks” guides Dan Kieffer's philosophy working in the wealth industry below. #UMBCareers

It's Friday, so you know what that means! We're sharing photos from associates across our footprint who are making an impact in the communities we serve. Bankers in New Mexico volunteered at their local Junior Achievement program, where UMB associates are involved. In Illinois, we presented the keynote speaker at the YWCA’s Leader Luncheon as a longtime supporter of the organization. Our BEPIC Business Resource Group hosted a fantastic Women’s Empowerment Panel to discuss the importance of empowerment with four inspiring black female leaders. Our inclusion, diversity & associate giving consultant, Angelica DeSimio, also spoke at the St. Teresa's Academy Women's Symposium in Kansas City. Thank you to all our associates who work hard to foster a culture of giving back to our community each and every day! #UMBHeart #LifeatUMB
