Drawing from over 27 years of experience in the agency world, Carrie shared powerful insights into the evolving relationship between PR and advertising, the intricacies of brand-building, and the strategy behind high-impact campaigns. A huge thank you to Carrie von der Sitt for taking the time to share her knowledge and experience with us — we were so lucky to learn from her! We hope to see you at our Senior Banquet next week on April 22nd!

    Thank you to everyone who joined us for our PR Playbook to Sports Communication meeting last night! A special thank you to our guest speakers, Bryan Harris, founder of 25 Hits and Sports Communication professor at UGA, and Mark Schlabah, senior writer and reporter at ESPN, as well as a New York Times best-selling author. Sports and media are deeply interconnected, with PR playing a crucial role in shaping narratives, managing media relationships, and navigating crises. Bryan and Mark shared valuable insights and their experiences from the fast-paced world of sports communication. We hope everyone has a safe and restful spring break, and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on March 25th!

  • Back to back meetings! Last night, we held a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion panel titled “How to Tell Authentic Stories.” This panel was led by our Director of DEI, Sydney Brass. We were honored to welcome Carmina Escalante from Sirius XM, Naria Frazer from Praytell, and Gita Stulberg from Social Justice Lab to this panel. We’d also like to thank L. Randolph Carter, UGA’s Director of DEI, for his efforts on this panel even though he wasn’t able to attend. These industry professionals provided guidance and wisdom into DEI and how storytelling plays a huge part in it. Thank you to everyone who showed up and to our amazing speakers for sharing their insights with us!

  • Crisis Averted! Last night, we were fortunate to hear from Dr. Yan Jin, the C. Richard Yarbrough Professor in Crisis Communication Leadership and Professor of Public Relations at UGA. As the Director of the Crisis Communication Think Tank and Associate Director of the Center for Health and Risk Communication, Dr. Jin provided us with invaluable insights on navigating crises with confidence. A special thank you to MA student NaYoung S. and PhD student River Gracey for their guidance during the session. It was truly a must-attend event for anyone looking to enhance their crisis communication skills. Thank you, Dr. Jin, River, and NaYoung, for making this an such a great evening!

Last night, we held our semester kickoff meeting and were thrilled to welcome Dolores Trobradovic, an Account Executive at Grey and former UGA PRSSA president, who shared her invaluable insights with our members.
