Creative hiring managers, please stop posting jobs that you have no intention of hiring for. Because, you're driving candidates crazy and damaging your own reputation. My team and I are hearing the chatter from frustrated candidates who feel like they're applying for phantom jobs. They're questioning if you're disorganized, if their applications are even being seen, and if you're genuinely interested in hiring. I get it – managing a flood of applicants can be overwhelming. But if you're going to post jobs online, take responsibility and create a system to organize and respond to these candidates. Even an automatic reply is better than radio silence! If you're in over your head, work with a recruiter. That's what we do – we sift through thousands of applicants to find you the top dozen worth your time. And if your internal recruiting teams are struggling to keep up, take the job posting down and help them develop better systems and support. Failing to do so reflects poorly on your brand.
