Preparedness is vital in the services we provide, knowing every second counts when an emergency occurs and collaboration with local law enforcement is critical. We recently partnered with members of the Chicago Police Department SWAT Team to conduct armed assailant training at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry to help all parties prepare in the event of an emergency. Held in the evening hours following the museum’s closing, training highlights included security staff ensuring that our procedures were in alignment with SWAT protocols while assisting the SWAT Team in getting to their target areas as quickly and efficiently as possible. As a part of the scenarios, security staff were trained on verbally directing SWAT to specific areas through both one-on-one communication and over the radio from the museum’s security camera room. Our thanks to the Chicago Police Department and the SWAT Team for their collaboration in these vital trainings. Taking action in going above and beyond her duties, we are shining a spotlight on Officer Novalee Espinosa of South Carolina for her recent efforts in helping a couple in need. While on patrol in Garden City, SC, Novalee came across a couple in need that had been pinned beneath a motorcycle after the rider's prosthetic leg became unattached. Without hesitation, she stepped in, assisting them with care and ensuring they were safe and uninjured. She even helped reattach the prosthetic and provided the support they needed to get the bike back on the road. Her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond embody what it means to serve, no matter the situation or environment. Thank you, Novalee, for being a true example of helping those in need.
