About us

The SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department prepares and assists eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment. SCVRD prides itself on being a good steward of its public funding. The department ranks at or near the top nationally in many vocational rehabilitation service categories. We’re proud that the department’s efficiency and effectiveness are a national model for VR agencies. But our most rewarding benefits are realized when our clients, who have been dependent on tax-supported benefits, become taxpayers as they enter competitive employment.

More than 500 people participated in the event, which hosts athletes from Aiken, Edgefield, and Saluda counites. They also took the opportunity to share information about VR services to members of the community in attendance. Thanks Aiken!!

  • We are happy to introduce our new Laurens/Newberry Area Supervisor! His name is Baxter, and according to Laurens/Newberry staff, he "successfully completed his hostile takeover of the Area Supervisor position." Look at all of those credentials he has already displayed in his office! Welcome, Baxter- we look forward to your leadership! ... Happy April Fools Day, everyone! Baxter is a valued member of the SCVRD team- he is a service dog for one of our team. The team you know in Laurens and Newberry is still there and ready to help, including the Area Supervisor. 😉

  • A big thank you to all of our partners and students who made Professional Development a success. At South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation, we value being able to empower students to succeed.   In partnership with Lander University, SC Department of Employment Workforce, and other amazing organizations, we were able to provide 300 students with the tools needed to succeed in the workforce. From resume writing to crafting elevator pitches, it is always inspiring seeing young professionals becoming equipped to brighten their futures.   Together, we are building stronger career pathways! #SCV #ProfessionalDevelopment
