  • 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗳 𝗪𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹? One of my favorite quotes from Return to Love by Marianne Williamson has been a guiding light in my life: "𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲… 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱." I’ve returned to these words countless times in moments of doubt, hesitation, and exhaustion. They remind me that shrinking—whether out of fear, societal conditioning, or the weight of expectation—doesn’t serve me. And it certainly doesn’t serve the world. And yet, I see this struggle playing out everywhere right now. In this country. In our workplaces. In boardrooms. In communities. We are at 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Between the audacity to reimagine what’s possible and the fear of those clinging to a past that no longer serves us. This moment is asking us: 👉🏾 Will we use our voice, our networks, and our leadership to create change? 👉🏾 Will we claim our power, not just for ourselves, but to lift others up? 👉🏾 Will we stop waiting for permission and step forward—fully, unapologetically? Because here’s the truth -- 𝗡𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁. We choose to speak up when it’s easier to stay silent. We choose to open doors for others when exclusion is the norm. We choose to expand when everything around us is telling us to shrink. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱.

  • 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 For too long, I believed my worth was tied to productivity. Growing up, I never saw my father take a vacation. His relentless work ethic reflected a system designed to extract labor, especially from Black bodies, while devaluing rest. But I’ve come to see rest differently—not as indulgence, but as a radical act of self-preservation and liberation. Rest challenges capitalism’s demand for perpetual output. It affirms our worth beyond labor. It fuels creativity, innovation, and joy. 𝗧𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. My father never took a vacation. But I do. • ✨ 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗔 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 ✨ As we step into a year that’s already proving to be challenging, I want to share the mantra that grounded us during The Opt-In's 2025 kickoff: 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘. Discipline is our guide—our commitment to staying focused, grounded, and aligned in a time when it’s easy to get pulled off course. It’s an invitation to approach this year with clarity, purpose, and unwavering resolve. This year, let’s embody discipline by committing to: 🔹 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗 In a world full of noise designed to keep us small, disempowered, and divided, don’t fall for it. Discipline means staying the course and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲. 🔹 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗘 𝗗𝗢 There is little room for error, especially given the current climate. Discipline calls us to let excellence permeate everything we touch—for ourselves, our teams, and our clients. 🔹 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗔 Discipline requires us to ground our decisions in 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The data is our compass; let it lead us with clarity and strength. 🔹 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 This is a marathon, not a sprint. Discipline means prioritizing moments of pause, joy, and restoration so we can show up fully and sustainably. 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, and rest is a requirement. 🔹 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧, 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗟𝗬 Discipline gives us the 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. We’ve been built for this. Hold that truth deep in your core and lead boldly, with love, purpose, and accountability. This mantra of discipline isn’t just for The Opt-In—it’s for anyone striving to build a world 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹. Let it guide you in 2025 to stay focused and steadfast in creating the change you want to see. What’s keeping you grounded and inspired this year? Let’s hold space for each other in the comments.👇🏾 hashtag #leadwithlove hashtag #opt-in

  • 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 As we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring impact, my dear friend and scholar Peniel Joseph reminds us in his latest piece that King’s vision of justice, equity, and multiracial democracy continues to challenge and inspire us. In this poignant article, Peniel explores how MLK’s legacy has been co-opted and distorted in today’s political landscape, symbolizing the duality of progress and backlash in America’s ongoing struggle for justice. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆: • 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲: King’s fight against racism, militarism, and materialism remains as relevant as ever. His dream wasn’t just about civil rights but about human dignity, economic justice, and peace. • 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: King’s understanding of America’s Reconstruction and Redemption narratives offers a roadmap for how we must confront systemic oppression while building coalitions for multiracial democracy. • 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: In an era of book bans, anti-DEI rhetoric, and rising authoritarianism, Peniel emphasizes that this backlash stems from fear of the inclusive future King envisioned. Now, more than ever, we must resist divisive forces and lean into the power of community, justice, and 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺. Peniel’s reminder is clear: History is not hatred, and another world is possible. Let us honor MLK’s legacy by continuing the work he began, Building coalitions that transcend race, class, and identity to create a truly just society for 𝗔𝗹𝗹. 🔗👇🏾♥️ hashtag #MLK hashtag #Leadership hashtag #LeadwithLove

  • 2024 showed us that leadership grounded in compassion and equity isn’t just a choice—𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. The past year brought significant challenges and triumphs, reminding us that the essence of leadership lies in how we show up for others. It’s about fostering a culture where accountability and humanity thrive, 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺. As we begin 2025, I encourage leaders to reflect on this: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? • 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗔 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 This year, we leaned into the audacious work of creating spaces where every voice isn’t just heard, but celebrated—and with that, transformation became inevitable. 2024 wasn’t about individual achievements; it was about a collective reimagining of leadership. A leadership where cultural competency transcends checkboxes and becomes a living, breathing commitment to dignity, equity, and belonging. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: ⚡ 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 • As a Founding Board Member of The Latina Foundation, I witnessed the power of collective action. With nearly 2 million Latina-owned businesses generating over $100 billion annually, the inequity persists—Latinas receive less than 1% of venture capital. This work isn’t just about representation; it’s about dismantling systemic barriers. https://lnkd.in/g9AXuNgM ⚡𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗣 • Leading a workshop with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation showed me that being a "diplomatic disruptor" means more than conversations—it's about "stepping off the sidelines, breaking the silence, and moving into action." https://lnkd.in/gvP66jTA ⚡𝗕 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 • Joining leaders who believe business can be a force for good, we imagined a future where people and the planet hold equal value in the economy. Together, we’re redefining how to balance profit and purpose. https://lnkd.in/g9XJ56RR But the magic wasn’t in the events or milestones—it was in the moments of genuine connection. The times when leaders embraced vulnerability over perfection, choosing humanity as the foundation for progress. 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: The Opt-In™ is growing, not just in reach but in impact. Our mission remains the same: to amplify a movement where radical love transforms workplaces, communities, and the world. To our incredible partners who dream of more equitable spaces—your courage doesn’t just inspire us; it reshapes what’s possible. Together, let’s continue this journey of transformation. hashtag #LeadWithLove hashtag #CulturalCompetency hashtag #LinkedInRewind hashtag #2024Wrapped
