Community Resource Spotlight: Supporting Our Neighbors in Need As our nation faces ongoing economic uncertainty, many individuals and families across the DMV region are struggling with job losses, rising costs of everyday essentials like food and gas, and increasing financial instability. Food insecurity, already a pressing issue for many, is now affecting even more of our neighbors. Organizations like the Capital Area Food Bank and other regional food banks play a vital role in ensuring that families have access to nutritious meals during these challenging times. Their support is more critical than ever as they work to meet the growing demand. Help is available for those affected by reductions in federal jobs and funding. Beginning on Saturday, April 5th, the Capital Area Food Bank will be holding new pop-up food distributions for affected workers, where they can pick up food boxes containing shelf-stable groceries and fresh produce. These new food distributions will be held twice a week through June: on Thursdays from 5 – 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 – 11 a.m., or while supplies last each day.
