  • Yesterday, #TeamTERRA attended the ribbon cutting celebration of the historic Chicago Park District's Riis Park Fieldhouse. This $13 million, four-year renovation revitalized the 1930s landmark with renovated spaces, improved accessibility and enhanced landscaping. The project includes a new teen room, an upgraded art space and a soon-to-be-completed outdoor spray pool making this a popular community hub. TERRA was proud to provide civil engineering, landscape architecture and survey services for this project in collaboration with SMNG A Ltd. and AltusWorks, Inc.!

  • Last week, TERRA’s Technical Site Director Thomas Hill had the privilege of connecting with students at Crystal Lake Central High School through his Math in Professional Practice presentation! Through case studies and real-world examples, he highlighted how math, science and engineering come together to shape the world around us. From problem-solving to creative design, math is at the core of what we do. Thank you to Community High School District 155 for the opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers!

  • Traffic is moving on the newly constructed eastbound US 150 McClugage Bridge! In December, the bridge opened to vehicles and pedestrians, featuring a 650-foot steel arch, three traffic lanes and a multiuse path with an observation platform. TERRA’s construction inspection team remains actively engaged as the project moves into its next phase as crews prepare to demolish the existing structure. An implosion is tentatively planned for this spring. Stay tuned for more updates as this transformation continues!

  • #TeamTERRA recently partnered with the City of Peoria, Illinois to revitalize the MacArthur Highway corridor, improving traffic flow, increasing green space and enhancing stormwater management. The updated design includes three vehicular lanes, a sidewalk and a shared-use path, creating a more accessible and sustainable roadway while maximizing existing infrastructure. The project also involved reconstructed lighting, traffic signals and close coordination with City modelers to ensure compliance with EPA regulations. Completed on an accelerated timeline to meet funding requirements, this effort supports a more sustainable and resilient roadway for the community.

  • This past weekend, #TeamTERRA attended the ribbon cutting for Encuentro Square, an 89-unit affordable housing apartment complex at the western edge of the 606 Trail bordering Logan Square, Humboldt Park and Hermosa. In collaboration with Canopy / architecture + design, TERRA provided civil engineering and survey services for the project. Encuentro Square, a vision brought to life by the Latin United Community Housing LUCHA and Evergreen Real Estate Group, aimed to breathe new life into the historic Magic Glove factory site. The project combats gentrification-fueled displacement by offering 200 units of affordable housing after all phases of the project are complete, while also embracing the essence of 'Encuentro,' or 'coming together,' which is what this vibrant community truly represents.

  • As construction wraps up at Germantown Hills’ MTCO Park, we’re looking forward to warm days filled with baseball games, soccer matches and time spent outdoors! This 19.5-acre sports complex was designed with the community in mind, featuring baseball and softball fields with a concession and restroom building, soccer fields, pickleball courts, a playground and walking paths. TERRA was proud to lead this project with site/civil engineering, landscape architecture and surveying services, bringing the vision to life from planning through construction.
