Congratulations to Plant City Family YMCA’s former athlete, Johni Broome - on an amazing March Madness performance! The Auburn All-American used to play basketball at our Plant City YMCA - he led the Tigers to the 2025 Final Four, averaging 16.8 points and 12 rebounds per NCAA tournament game. He now "projects as a late-first-round or early-second-round NBA draft choice." Way to go, Johni! You make us proud!

We love our friends at Feeding Tampa Bay and are thankful for their ongoing support to provide access and education to healthy food resources!
Yesterday, one of our Nutrition Education Coordinators had the pleasure of concluding a series of lessons with a group of bright young minds at the Bob Sierra YMCA. The final class, "Smart Shopping & Planning," was a huge success! The kids learned how to "Outsmart the Grocery Store" by mapping out their stores to identify where healthy foods are placed and discussing common supermarket tactics. It was a fun and hands-on way to equip them with lifelong skills for making healthier food choices. But what truly stole the show? At the end of the lesson, the kids surprised our coordinator with personalized cards and drawings to say goodbye! The heartfelt gesture brought tears to their eyes — a truly special moment of connection and community. We couldn’t be prouder of these kids and hope they carry these healthy habits with them for years to come. A big thank you to Bob Sierra YMCA for making this experience possible! #FeedingTampaBay #HealthyKids #NutritionEducation #SmartShopping #BuildingHealthyHabits #ThankYou #CommunityLove #Tampa

We appreciate their engagement program, which modernized our basketball gym with a refinished gymnasium floor, replaced glass backboards and wall pads, as well as fresh paint! Thank you! And, thank you to everyone for making this morning's ribbon-cutting a success!
