Home sweet home. Retired Sutter Amador Hospital Emergency Department physician Dr. Paul Beatty and his wife, Debra Lawlor, announced a philanthropic gift to support Sutter Amador Hospital’s growing medical residency programs. Their generosity funded a three-bedroom home in Jackson, Calif., to house residents during eight-week rotations through Sutter Amador. “I can’t think of a better way to honor the excellence of Sutter Amador Hospital than to provide convenient housing for our trainees and have them fall in love with our community as I did.” - Dr. Beatty. At Palo Alto Medical Foundation Pediatrics, young patients are finding a path to healing through collaborative and timely mental health support. When a primary care doctor identifies a mental health need, a care manager steps in to offer support, coordinate care, and connect the patient with resources. 🩵 “Having that extra layer of support means we’re able to provide better, more informed care—whether it’s getting advice on ADHD medication or helping a family find the right therapy.” – Dr. Melanie Klein, a primary care physician at PAMF Sunnyvale Pediatrics. By embedding behavioral health into primary care through Sutter’s Collaborative Care Model, we’re making mental health support proactive, accessible, and integrated into everyday care. “When I think back to that 16-year-old girl in Peru, running between the hospital and my grandmother’s bedside, I realize how far I’ve come. Everything I’ve done has been about making things better for patients and nurses. And I’m not done yet.” For Liz Elliott, nursing isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling, a way to honor her grandmother’s memory, and a lifelong commitment to making a difference.
