We love to see our students using their voices! Thanks to the Learner-Centered Collaborative for amplifying learner voice.
We had a great launch to our Learner Advisory Council last week. Together, we built connections, created a shared definition of meaningful learning, and identified aspects of the educational experience most in need of student voice and agency. Near the end of our call, learners were asked: "If you had a magic wand and could change one thing about your school/your school experience/education, what would you change?" From better communication between teachers and students to honoring every individual's learning pace, one learner captured many of these thoughts in their response: "I want to see more students being challenged at school, engaging in work that feels meaningful to them, and doing more than just the bare minimum. In the right environment, students should feel like their work is both important, relevant, and challenging, in a way that makes them grow." When we start with learners, we start from a place of possibility. We can't wait to share more about the Learner Advisory Council's work moving forward and the insights they share for learner-centered design.
