Women’s History Month 2025: “Moving Forward Together,” spotlighting “women educating and inspiring generations.” Women who are dedicated to education, mentorship and leadership to shape the minds and futures of all generations. This is your mother, your wife, your sister, your daughter, you, me! Working together to not only “…improve the quality of life for all people in the diverse communities we serve”, but to embrace this rich heritage of women in history, in leadership, and with opportunities for personal growth. I work at Studer Community Institute, an organization that proudly recognizes and celebrates these women! Katie Ballard Ashley Misleh Paige Marcin, MHSA Studer Community Institute

  • The Pensacola State College Nonprofit Center for Excellence and Philanthropy recently congratulated the graduates of their Nonprofit Excellence certification program, and we are so honored to be a part of that graduation class! Katie Ballard, SCI Executive Director shared: “We are so grateful to have been able to participate in the yearlong course. Not only was this a great opportunity to work with other nonprofits, but there are a whole host of things that we have implemented here at our organization. Lessons we learned through this course have aided in our commitment to an efficient and effective nonprofit so as to better serve those in our community”. Thank you to the Pensacola State College Foundation, Andrea Krieger and special thanks to Quint Studer and SCI board of directors for their guidance and support throughout this journey! • This is what successful mentoring looks like Bert Thornton, retired COO of Waffle House, Amie Remington, author of “The Art (And Science) Of HR”, and our new Director of Building Jobs, Chris Heaney, all have something in common – and it’s not just their passion for what they do. Bert was a mentor for both Amie and Chris at different points in their lives. They discovered this commonality at the recent EntreCon Extra, where Amie was our guest speaker. Bert was a guest, and Chris was the director who brought together the training for the community. Both Amie and Chris expressed their gratitude and respect for the mentorship they received and spoke to the value of the mentoring and leadership skills they learned from Bert. Mentoring – this is why SCI supports and promotes it. 92% of small business owners with a mentor say it directly impacts the growth of their business 70% of mentored businesses survive five years or longer (that's twice the rate of business owners who don't receive any mentoring) 55% of businesses say mentoring has a positive impact on their profits 61% of small business owners mentor others, and 58% mentor young entrepreneurs We love celebrating the successes of those entrepreneurs who seek out mentoring, and the mentors who share their leadership and provide guidance on what worked for them. Thank you, Bert, Amie, and Chris for sharing your leadership and success! Chris Heaney Amie Remington Bert Thornton Quint Studer
