Star of Hope Mission

Last week, Star of Hope's Outreach team was blessed to have Aramark employees volunteer as part of the company's ABC Day, a day dedicated to service projects in local neighborhoods worldwide. As part of their serve day, local members helped to restore the children's playground at Park Yellowstone, a community that our Outreach team works with daily, assisting and providing services for those who live at the apartment homes. We are so appreciative to be the recipients of this amazing day of service and the work they did to bring joy back to the playground! Social Current Aramark #ABCDay

Last week, the Men's Development Center was honored to have players from the San Francisco Giants volunteer through Big League Impact before their series with the Astros. The players, Robbie Ray, Ryan Walker, Lou Trivino and Patrick Bailey, assisted our kitchen staff with packing sack lunches, making sandwiches and serving lunch to our male residents.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Velma and her team from Jones Memorial Church for their dedicated service at the Women and Family Development Center. Each month, they provide snacks and refreshments for graduates and guests after the commencement ceremony.

Through your support, Star of Hope reached thousands of individuals in need in 2024. You helped provide everything a man, woman or family needed to find an abundant life—case management, childcare for working parents, financial coaching, counseling, permanent housing, and so much more. Below is the impact you made!

Students from the Second Baptist, West Campus spent their Spring Break volunteering at the Women and Family Development Center! Throughout the day, they served lunch, organized items at our Children's Ministry and assembled sack lunches. We are so grateful to have had them volunteer with us!

Become a Star of Hope volunteer this spring and make an immediate impact. There are many opportunities for individuals to serve, whether individually or with a group: - Serve in the kitchen and assist in passing out meals to residents at the Men's Development Center or the Women and Family Development Center - Assemble Hope Bags for individuals in need on the streets of Houston, or housewarming gift baskets for those who have moved into permanent supportive housing. - Host a donation drive for urgently needed items No matter the opportunity, your efforts mean so much to the staff and residents at Star of Hope!

Thank you to St. John Church's women's ministry for assembling more than 300 Hope Bags for individuals in need!

We are deeply grateful for Jay Stevens' unwavering commitment as a volunteer at Star of Hope for over thirty years. His exemplary service was celebrated at this year's Annual Banquet, where we honored his dedication and impact. Among his many contributions, Jay has been a source of joy for our residents, capturing their Christmas portraits every year. Thank you, Jay, for all that you do!

"Shine," the Star of Hope Annual Banquet, was an extraordinary evening! We are so grateful to everyone who attended and celebrated alongside us. On Friday, we were blessed to honor Jay Stevens, a longtime volunteer, with the George and Barbara Bush Points of Light Award. We also heard inspiring testimonies from alumni and Star of Hope staff member Benjamin, and current resident Kristena. Thank you to our Host Committee Chairs, The Goolsby Family, underwriters, table sponsors and all who attended.
