At SSYAF, our staff is always there to support our youth and families every step of the way, even in the small moments. One of our dedicated social workers went above and beyond to support one of her youth by attending an award assembly where the youth received an award. The youth had no idea she was about to be recognized, but her foster parents, knowing how special this moment would be, secretly invited her social worker to be there. Although her birth family couldn’t attend, her foster parent ensured she had the support she needed in the audience. When her name was called, she proudly stepped forward, holding up her award. At first, she didn’t see her foster parent or social worker in the crowd, but when she finally spotted them, her face lit up with a huge smile. The praise and love they showered her with made the moment even more unforgettable.
