The American Association of Blacks in Energy (National Office) (AABE) awards over $350K in scholarships annually to high school seniors who want to pursue higher education in the STEM field. We’re proud to be featured in an article by NJBIZ and Matt Fazelpoor highlighting the recently completed gas main upgrades along Third Avenue in Port Elizabeth, NJ, using CISBOT technology. Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of SJI with more than 300,000 customers, recently completed gas main upgrades along Third Avenue in Port Elizabeth, NJ using a cast-iron sealing robot, or CISBOT. CISBOT, developed and deployed by New York-based ULC Technologies, enters live gas mains through a very small opening in the street and travels hundreds of feet in either direction underground to internally remediate the joints. The Third Avenue project was identified due to its history of costly repairs and challenges around excavating in the area. “Elizabethtown Gas strives to balance sustainability, safety, affordability, and reliability in the service we provide to our customers,” - Christie McMullen, President & COO of Elizabethtown Gas. “The project on Third Avenue allowed our team to carry out necessary upgrades with minimal disruption to the community while proactively protecting the main against future repairs.” Read the article here: https://bit.ly/43uMsnI

SJI is also proud to announce the appointment of Shawn Abner-Purnell, M.S., Chief Diversity Officer, SJI, to the Board of the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the American Red Cross. Abner-Purnell replaces Donna Schempp, Chief Administration Officer, SJI, who has served on the Board for nine years. “We are grateful for the many years Donna Schempp has dedicated to the American Red Cross, working with various committees and volunteering in the community while serving on our Board of Directors,” - Rachel Lippoff, Executive Director, American Red Cross of Southern New Jersey. “It is our pleasure to welcome Shawn Abner-Purnell to the Southern New Jersey Board.
