I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to be in the United Arab Emirates last week for the unveiling of the world’s rarest diamonds, namely ‘The Mediterranean Blue’, a supremely rare and exceptional Fancy Vivid Blue diamond weighing 10.03 carats. It’s estimated at US$20 million / CHF 18 million, and will make its auction debut in the High Jewelry Sale at Sotheby’s Geneva on 13 May. Sotheby’s hosted the exhibition in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and the blue diamond was on view for the first time ever at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, a visionary non-profit institution on Abu Dhabi’s landmark Saadiyat Island Cultural District. Alongside this exhibition, we also showcased an unparalleled collection of diamonds, many of which are available for private sale, including the largest flawless diamond in the world, the largest vivid orangey pink diamond ever graded, the second largest red diamond known to exist… and several diamonds over 100 carats..! Congratulations to the teams who collaborated on this incredible project!
