This afternoon, I had the honor of delivering the closing keynote for part of the new intern class at Medtronic! As a first-generation college graduate who has done multiple internships throughout my life—all of which helped pave the way for my current career—it was awesome to speak with young leaders as they embark on this exciting new chapter. We chatted wellness, identity, and how to navigate stress while balancing academic and professional responsibilities. It’s clear these leaders are bright, eager, and ready to make a positive impact on the world—and I can’t wait to see what they do. To all who attended today, and anyone starting a new professional journey: You belong here. You are enough. I’m rooting for you. 🎉 Thank you SHPE, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and EVERGREEN Speakers 🤍🎙️ #keynotespeaker #corporatespeaker #collegespeaker #STEM

César Chávez was an American labor leader and civil rights activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers with Dolores Huerta in 1962. Chávez became an advocate for the rights of agricultural workers, who were often subjected to poor working conditions, low wages, and discrimination. Chavez continued to work for social justice until his death in 1993, and his legacy as a labor leader and civil rights activist continues to inspire people around the world. His legacy continues to influence SHPE’s mission and we hope you can find inspiration from him to continue to make progress!

We're considering offering a "Career Closet" opportunity at the National Convention! 💼 In partnership with a couple of sponsors, we would get donations of like-new or gently-worn business attire and allow attendees to take what they need to look their best for the career fair and networking events. We'd love your feedback! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gmFMXJJX

Florida International University (FIU) graduate and information technology major, Ryan Cruz, is a senior cyber systems security engineer for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. He’s also the recipient of the 2023 HENAAC Luminary Honoree award from Great Minds in STEM (GMiS). Integral to his success, he says, was his participation in the SHPE FIU Chapter. They provided transportation to the GMiS conference in Orlando where he received an on-the-spot job interview with Lockheed Martin.
