Saint Michael's Medical Center sold our original hospital building at the corner of Central Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in 2016. A renovation of the historic building began shortly after, but came to a halt a few years ago. We are pleased that Ellavoz Impact Capital has acquired the building and will complete the project with workforce housing. The project, to be called Newark Commons, will create 43 new housing units consisting of 144 bedrooms. It will cater to the needs of today’s mobile professionals, essential healthcare workers, and university students.
