  • Here's what retailers and shoppers need to know about the new tariffs: ⬆️ Increased chargebacks due to held orders Trade wars produce some unexpected consequences. In 2019, when the US raised tariffs on China, the Chinese government held up ecommerce shipments into the country. We saw chargebacks across retailers increase by as much as five times during the dispute. 🚛 Delivery delays for low-value orders In February, a previous round of tariffs included eliminating the duty-free exemption for ecommerce packages coming into the U.S. The end of de minimis meant 1 billion low-value packages were required to go through the full customs treatment, causing a logjam for the U.S. Postal Service and other critical parts in the supply chain. 💰 Even tighter budgets for value-seeking consumers Our data shows that value-seeking consumers have been trading down, first in the face of high inflation and later as prices remained high. Retailers need to focus on these consumers who will continue to tighten their budgets. Get the full scoop in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/eZm5yRpd

Ecommerce is projected to reach $6.83 trillion in global sales by 2025, but this growth also attracts sophisticated fraud tactics. Our Senior Risk Intelligence Manager, Xavier Sheikrojan, highlights in Professional Security Magazine how AI advancements are fuelling a resurgence of mule fraud across Europe, posing significant challenges for merchants. Understanding these evolving threats is crucial for developing effective countermeasures. https://lnkd.in/eGD9etRA

  • Everyone in the industry is talking returns. In 2024 alone, returns reached about $890 billion, with the return rate for online purchases exceeding 15%. $46 billion worth of online returns were found to be fraudulent ( 😱 ) in the same year, according to industry figures cited in our State of Commerce 2025 report. The main takeaway: merchants need to start thinking differently about returns. Specifically, how do you turn this $46 billion elephant in the room into a growth lever? Mike Cassidy breaks down concrete ways that retailers can start taking a more personalized approach to returns, turning what's historically been viewed as major expense into a growth opportunity.
