The Women in Retail Leadership Circle #OnTheRoad event in NYC was truly energizing and insightful! Excellent content, making new friends, learning new ideas, and reconnecting with the #WIRLC community. A few key take aways: 1. Cy Wakeman emphasized creating impactful change by balancing reality with aspirations. Leaders should reduce emotional waste, support mental wellness, and avoid ego-driven reactions. Challenge beliefs, understand the role of empathy, and give assignments that foster self-improvement. The most important questions to ask are: How can I help? What do I know for sure? What can I do to add value? What would great look like? 2. AI panel led by Jenna Flateman Posner discussed doing a full assessment of the AI capabilities of all technology. Ask your partners to share their roadmap with you and if AI is not included, start looking for new partners. 3. Carhartt CEO Linda Hubbard shared that Brand AND Leadership authenticity is critical for success, focus on purposeful and affordable innovation. 4. Little Words Project CEO, Adriana Carrig focuses prioritizing community, connecting with customers, and creating for a cause with kindness and self-love. 5. Actress Jennie Garth (902010) shared how she removes herself from negative energy to protect and feel confident in your own energy, staying positive. 6. The CEO panel (PJ Oleksak, Evelyn Webster, Mary Fox, Anu Narayanan, mina fader) never disappoints: embrace change, take risks, and value innovation while being purposeful; practice active listening, set clear long-term goals (5-3-1 plan), prioritize tasks, and stay proactive and humble in learning; be trustworthy and focus on foundational business skills like understanding a P&L early.
