There was exciting news from end of last week at Sherpa Air. This IS NOT the "Big News Coming" announcement we referred to, that is still pending. We just had to share and celebrate this moment. Great job by our amazing MRO team as we delivered our first satellite, special communications STC installation, and a heavy maintenance check. Our customers were highly satisfied with our efforts, and we look forward to delivering the same quality services on time and on budget. Integrity and dependable service are hallmarks of Sherpa Air's company culture, and we look forward to extending that commitment on future customer visits. #MRO #aviationindustry #flying #businessaviation #elevatethestatusquo #aircraftmaintenance #aviation #bizav #aviationlovers #avgeek

Presidents Day, February 17th - Today, we celebrate the leaders who have shaped our nation and reflect on the values of democracy and freedom that continue to guide us. Presidents' Day was first established in 1885, in recognition of President George Washington's birthday of February 22. Starting in 1968, It was later referred to as Presidents' Day, to also honor President Abraham Lincoln's birthday, which was February 19. In the United States, Presidents' Day always takes place on the third Monday in February. Do you know how the "customary" outgoing Presidential letter written and left for the incoming President began? Oddly enough, it's a more modern tradition, initiated by outgoing President Ronald Reagan to incoming President George H.W. Bush. Nothing formal or mandatory about the process exists. Generally words of well wishes and navigating the rigors and burden the office holds. It's just become considered good taste, and every outgoing President since Reagan, has left a personal letter for the next. We know what these letters contain, and they can be found online, available to the public, or have been disclosed. President Biden was in a unique position of writing a Presidential letter to the same person he received a letter from. This is the first time in history that has occurred. And now the, "Aviation Fun Fact": The presidential air transport fleet consists of two specially configured Boeing 747-200B's — tail numbers 28000 and 29000 — with the Air Force designation VC-25. When the president is aboard either aircraft, or any Air Force aircraft, the radio call sign is "Air Force One". Presidential air transport began in 1944 when a VC-54, nicknamed the "Sacred Cow," was put into service for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. While the call sign "Air Force One" was first used in the 50s, President Kennedy's VC-137 was the first aircraft to be popularly known as "Air Force One." In 1962, a VC-137C specifically purchased for use as Air Force One, entered into service with the tail number 26000. It is perhaps the most widely known and most historically significant presidential aircraft. Tail number 26000 is the aircraft that carried President Kennedy to Dallas, Nov. 22, 1963, and returned the body to Washington, D.C., following his assassination. Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn into office as the 36th president on board the aircraft at Love Field in Dallas. #presidentsday #usa #bizav #charter #avgeek #aviationindustry #aircharter #aviationlovers #pilot #elevatethestatusquo #flying #corporatetravel #businessaviation #veterans #airplane #MRO #travel #businessjet #NBAA #luxurytravel #aircraft #privatejet #aviation #pilotlife
