Throughout his decades-long commitment to the architectural community, Eric has exemplified leadership, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to advancing the profession. His extensive volunteer service and advocacy efforts have had a profound and lasting impact on both AIA Oklahoma and the broader architectural landscape. Eric has been an active AIA member since 1994 and has consistently demonstrated a willingness to serve and lead. He has held numerous leadership positions, including serving on the AIA Eastern Oklahoma Board of Directors, where he acted as Secretary and President. His contributions extend to the state level as well, where he has served on the AIA Oklahoma State Board as a Director and as Secretary. Beyond leadership roles, Eric has played a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and education. As the AIA Oklahoma Disaster Coordinator since 2008, he has led disaster preparedness training, provided critical disaster assistance after major events like the Pricher tornado, and became a certified CalOES trainer in 2019. His efforts to train first responders and city staff in disaster response exemplify his commitment to public welfare. Additionally, his participation in initiatives like "Better Blueprint for Oklahoma" and "Roam the Dome" demonstrates his passion for advocacy and sustainability in the built environment. Eric's influence extends to the next generation of architects and the community through programs like Camp T-Square, where he introduced grade-school students to architecture, and the AIA Eastern Oklahoma Chit Chat presentations, which provided a public platform for design discourse. His creative initiatives, such as organizing the Architread bicycle tour and Archtoberfest brewery tour, have fostered a stronger sense of community among local architects. Eric's tireless service and visionary leadership make him an exemplary candidate for the AIA Oklahoma Award for Distinguished Service. His contributions to the architectural profession and the broader community reflect the highest ideals of AIA, and his work continues to inspire those around him.
