🚨 CALL TO ACTION: EMPOWERING YOUNG BLACK MEN 🚨 At the Shelter Association, we believe in offering support that empowers individuals on their journey toward stability and independence. We’re committed to empowering young Black men experiencing homelessness—offering more than shelter, but a real foundation for sustained success in relationships, health, and housing. Our current systemic deficit is not reflective of the strengths, assets, or ongoing contributions of young Black men in our community—yet inequitable outcomes persist. We are committed to being part of the solution, joining community efforts to change these outcomes and invest in lasting transformation. We’re seeking mentors, therapists, barbers, coaches, job trainers, artists, and purpose-driven leaders to help men: - Overcome anger and trauma - Discover purpose - Gain real-world job skills and employment support - Build emotional strength and resilience Whether you're offering your support in-kind or as a paid service, we want to hear from you. 💬 Ready to uplift, encourage, and build? Email Sarah Paspal-Jasinski at paspals@washtenaw.org 🙌 Let's walk alongside these men to remind them of the power that’s already within. ~~ #EmpowerBlackMen #HandUpsNotHandOuts #ShelterWithDignity #CommunityHealing #EquityInAction #PurposeAndPower #TogetherWeRise

Throughout history, women have been at the forefront of advocating for those experiencing homelessness. Leaders like Dorothy Day, co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement, fought for dignity and housing for the poor. Maria Foscarinis, founder of the National Homelessness Law Center, has worked tirelessly to defend the rights of unhoused individuals and countless others. Their dedication reminds us that advocacy matters—and that together, we can work toward a future where everyone has a place to call home. #WomensHistoryMonth #EndHomelessness #Advocacy
