This inspiring day was filled with discussions and insights related to professional development as well as embracing one’s individual journey in the workplace. Our highly esteemed Keynote Speaker was Command Sergeant Major Gretchen Evans, U.S. Army, Retired, whose awe-inspiring speech motivated listeners to say yes to new challenges and take that leap of faith to go farther than you even thought possible in life, even in difficult circumstances. S&T donated $10,000 to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh in partnership for financial education workshops being offered to individuals and business owners. The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh focuses on serving African-Americans and other minorities. They also help others to help themselves through extra-curricular educational opportunities, health advocacy, housing counseling, parental education and support for early childhood and youth development, hunger prevention services, sustainable wage career preparation, and other programs that lead to improved ability to achieve economic empowerment and self-reliance. S&T Bank recently presented a $10,000 check in support of the Provision Vocational Training Center (PVTC). PVTC focuses on preparing disconnected individuals impacted by socio-economic barriers for career pathway jobs through workforce development training. They are currently working with Friends Rehabilitation Program (FRP) on two, six-week training sessions called Green Retrofit Initiative Training (GRIT). Their joint plan is to implement a 12-month training program focusing on providing participants with on-the-job training coupled with classroom learning.
