⚠️ April is #DistractedDrivingAwarenessMonth and Dave Sanders, our Director of Safety and Risk, has some important reminders for our team members and our friends and family out on the roads. 🚗 "Distracted driving has become the most common cause of serious and fatal auto accidents in the US. Cell phone use—texting, talking, and social media use—are the most common distractions. We are responsible for the choices we make when we're on the road: 📵 Need to send a text or make a call? Pull over and park your vehicle in a safe location. 📵 Have your passenger do the texting or respond to a message or phone call. 📵 If you struggle not to text or use your phone, put it out of reach so you're not tempted. 📵 If you are a passenger and your driver is distracted, tell them to stop and focus on the road. Cell phones are not the only distraction; other risky actions include adjusting the radio, using the GPS, eating, drinking, and smoking. Just taking your eyes off the road, looking at something along the road, or anything taking your focus off of what's ahead of you for a split second is enough to cause an accident or a near collision. Our job as drivers is just that - DRIVE - and on today's roadways with so many other distracted drivers out there, we need to keep 100% focus on the road ahead. Don't become a statistic - Put the phone away before you drive." 📴 Photo courtesy of buff.ly/3xik6yY #DistractedDriving #SafetyFirst #EndDD #PutThePhoneDown #SafetyDave
