Posted @withregram • @rowhousepub URGENT: Row House is a Black-and-Brown-woman-owned independent publishing house that needs your help. We have raised nearly $40,000 in our latest investor round, but we have to raise $20,000 more to meet our minimum requirement for withdrawal. If we fail, the $40,000 will be returned, and we get NOTHING. There are a bunch of ways to support at https://lnkd.in/egyN-jqq and through the link in our bio. Pass it on by tagging and sharing with your people. ✊🏽 Image text: “You have to understand that we cater to an affluent audience.” — Publishing CEO to Row House founder Rebekah Borucki when she asked, “Why am I the brownest person in the room?” Translation: “We cater to wealthy white people.” That exchange and the refusal of leadership to speak out against racist, dangerous disinformation spread by their authors, Rebekah made the decision to cancel her pending book deal and sever ties with the publisher. Row House was her response to that house and the publishing industry at large. Row House has an unwavering commitment to “raising the volume on voices that matter”— voices that have long been marginalized. Our books are written by and center Black, Brown, queer, and disabled people and their experiences. But Row House is not just a publishing house; it's a movement. We are dedicated to pouring into our communities, providing justice and literacy programs through our non-profit arm, the Little Readers Big Change Initiative. But we can’t prosper alone. We need the active participation and support of our community. Time is of the essence. Our work is vital, and the need for change is urgent. Join us in rewriting the narrative and amplifying voices that truly change the world. Check the details in the description for ways to contribute to our cause, whether through advocacy, engagement, or even becoming a micro-investor in Row House.

"We Alive, Beloved" by @FredTJoseph will be on sale June 18. Preorders are critical to the success of our authors, their books, and this house. They are also critical to our mission to raise the volume on voices that matter... especially when so many voices remain silent or otherwise committed to making noise instead of change. Link in comments. Swipe to read some of Fred's most recent poetry (not featured in the book, but beautiful nonetheless). 🍉
