My first job? Raising capital for an IMAX film about whales. 🐋 By day, I pitched Fortune 100 executives. By night, I slept in a barn housing the world’s largest collection of recorded whale songs. It took four years to bring the film to life. Along the way, I learned an essential lesson: real impact—and real relationships—aren’t built overnight. They take time, trust, and a willingness to look beneath the surface. That lesson shaped my career. Patrick McVeigh and I were colleagues and friends long before we co-founded a wealth management firm together. We bonded over a shared commitment to conservation and a belief that investing should align with values—not just chase returns. Frustrated that no one in our industry was truly integrating values into investing in a way that worked, we built something of our own. That was 20+ years ago. Relationships built on trust — like good investments — take time to grow. And they are well worth the wait.
