Recently, team members Evan F., AEMT, Allie R., Paramedic, and Connor Y., AEMT, exemplified what true partnership looks like. While assisting with a critical NICU transport, they took vitals as requested, provided the hospital staff with comprehensive notes, and assisted with clinical care during the transport. Thank you to our REMSA Health crew and the providers at Carson Tahoe Health and Renown Health for their excellent teamwork, too.
It's Telecommunicators Week! 👏🏻 Care begins with the call, especially with our medically trained Communications team, the first, first responders in a medical emergency. Over the past year, our dispatchers have guided parents through delivering babies over the phone, provided life-saving CPR instructions to loved ones in critical moments, and offered reassurance to those who needed a steady voice in a time of fear, all while ensuring help was on the way. It's easy to feel cared for when the person on the other end provides the support you need. 💙 Thank you to our fire/medical telecommunicators for always caring for our patients with compassion and excellence.
Did you know avalanches are more common in our region than you might think? In emergencies where people are caught in the snow, the Care Flight team is ready to respond—with help from some four-legged heroes. We partner with regional avalanche rescue dog teams who specially trained to detect human scent under deep snow, using their powerful noses to locate buried individuals faster than any machine. These “powder puppies” go through extensive training to become vital members of the rescue crew. We’re incredibly grateful for these paw-some partners and the life-saving work they do alongside our team.
For over 40 years, Care Flight has provided 24/7 air ambulance service throughout the region. 💙 Our rotor-wing service area covers approximately 50,000 square miles of California and Nevada, and 11 states across the western United States with our new fixed-wing program. Between our five bases and fleet, we can respond to most areas of the region in under one hour and navigate rural, suburban and complex alpine terrain.
Please join us in congratulating Barry Duplantis, CPA, JSM, president and CEO of REMSA Health, for being elected as treasurer of the board of directors for the Academy of International Mobile Healthcare Integration (AIMHI). AIMHI transforms EMS by developing high-performing systems and setting standards for excellence, accountability, education, research, and efficiency. To learn more, click here: https://bit.ly/4hVbIHb
