Farm like the world depends on it.™

About us

Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) is a revolutionary new label for food, fiber, and botanical ingredients and products. ROC™ is based on three pillars that require farmers to use practices that ensure healthy soil, pasture-based animal welfare, and fairness for farmers and workers. Regenerative Organic Certified® is overseen by the 501(c)3 nonprofit Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA), a group of experts in farming, ranching, soil health, animal welfare, and farmer and worker fairness. Led by Rodale Institute and spearheaded by Dr. Bronner’s and Patagonia, other founding members of the Alliance include Compassion in World Farming, Fair World Project, White Oak Pastures, and the Textile Exchange. The ROA has been established to continuously review and update the certification guidelines. At the Regenerative Organic Alliance, we envision a world free of poisonous chemicals, factory farming, exploitation, soil degradation, habitat destruction, pollution, short-term thinking, corporate bullies, greenwashing, and fake food. Instead, we imagine a world in which farmers, brands, policymakers, educators, researchers, and individuals come together to create a healthy food system that respects land and animals, empowers people, and restores communities and ecosystems through regenerative organic farming. Farm like the world depends on it.™

  • Join us in celebrating National Farm Animals Day and the integral role that farm animals play in our lives, our ecosystems, and our agricultural practices! At its core, regenerative organic agriculture focuses on restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting ecological balance. Animal integration plays a crucial role in achieving these goals, as it mimics natural ecosystems where livestock and wildlife coexist harmoniously with plant life. By incorporating animals, farmers can harness a range of benefits that directly contribute to the resilience and productivity of their farms. 🐄Grazing management: By carefully rotational grazing areas, ruminants can promote diverse plant growth and prevent overgrazing, which is crucial for maintaining healthy ecosystems.   ♻️Nutrient cycling: When ruminants graze, they ingest plant material and through their digestion process, release nutrients back into the soil through manure, which can improve soil fertility. 🐖Improved animal welfare  Grazing ruminants in a regenerative system improves animal welfare by allowing them to express natural grazing behaviors, access a diverse diet of fresh forage through rotational grazing, reduce stress from overcrowding, and generally promote better health due to a more balanced diet. 🌾Utilizing marginal land: Ruminants can thrive on land that might not be suitable for crop cultivation, making better use of available grazing areas.

  • In celebration of Earth Day this year, the ROA's very own, Christopher Gergen, will be heading off to New York City to join other industry leaders in advocating for regenerative at this year's ‘RegenerativeNYC’ hosted by Why Regenerative. Christopher will be presenting on a panel with Alexandra Lunt of Armonia LLC, to discuss the growth of the regenerative organic movement. This session, “How Regenerative Organic Agriculture Scales” explores scaling the Regenerative Organic movement by driving demand, increasing supply, and amplifying impact. The two will dive deep into how brands, policies, and investments can accelerate the transition, providing the capital needed to create lasting change.

🚨 WE NEED YOU! Protect the National Organic Program! 🚨 Make your voice heard! Join CCOF in signing onto to this letter to protect NOP staffing from federal workforce cuts. Signers must be organic operations and businesses. Join CCOF in signing this letter crafted by the Organic Trade Association, Organic Farmers Association, & National Organic Coalition to Secretary Rollins underscoring the critical need for a well-staffed NOP. We must act NOW. The deadline to sign is 1pm EST on Monday, April 7.  Sign on & share: https://lnkd.in/gi5b9WjP #SaveNOP #CCOF #NationalOrganicProgram #OrganicFood #OrganicAgriculture #OrganicFarming

  • Earth Month Partner Story Series~ In an era where climate change and environmental degradation are pressing concerns, innovative approaches to agriculture and shipping are emerging as vital components of the solution. One such initiative has been pioneered by the Vanilla Bean Project, which is set to make history with the first commercial-scale shipment of vanilla beans across the Atlantic Ocean by sail. Collaborating with Grain de Sail, a visionary company based in France that specializes in sustainable maritime transport, this endeavor promises to revolutionize not just the vanilla supply chain but also how we think about green logistics. • Today we honor César Chávez’s Legacy, a noble leader who dedicated his life to advocating for farmworkers' rights. Chávez co-founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) union and tirelessly fought against the injustices faced by those who toil in our fields. As we honor his memory, it’s essential to reflect on how we can continue his mission through the promotion of sustainable agriculture practices and the advocacy for farmworkers. César Chávez understood that the struggles of farmworkers were intertwined with the health of the land they cultivated. In today’s agricultural landscape, this truth resonates more than ever. With the increasing recognition of climate change and environmental degradation, embracing regenerative organic agriculture becomes not only a tribute to Chávez’s legacy but also a critical step toward a healthier future for both people and planet.
