Peer Social Engagement for Those Living w/ Dementia based on High-Quality, Adapted Books & Montessori Principles
About us
Liberating minds and voices. Busting through barriers with the magic and power of reading. Our specialized, dementia-friendly reading material allows adults to pursue their interests, to learn, to connect deeply with others, to help their peers, and to express themselves in genuine, unscripted ways. Reliance on care partners melts away. Well-being involves much more than engagement; it includes learning, belonging, and contributing. Our training program and specialized books open the door for experiences that define our humanity. Reading2Connect® assists staff and support partners in implementing personalized reading programs. Our methodology is an innovative, Montessori-based approach which allows adults living with cognitive changes to take leadership roles, collaborate with peers, and interact with our books, at their own pace, in their own way. The Reading2Connect® Program adapts to the needs of many settings, such as skilled nursing, memory care, adult day centers, traditional homes, hospitals, memory cafes, senior centers, libraries, museums, and places of worship.

What do YOU see happening here? Share your insights! We see the core Montessori principles in action: 1. A mindfully designed environment and props. 2. Manageable, accessible materials. 3. A supportive—but hands-off—employee approach. Even individuals with little functional language are engaged. Result? Goodbye, boredom! Goodbye, helplessness! Goodbye, loneliness! Curious? The Trump administration just placed the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) on administrative leave. We at Reading2Connect are saddened that the dedicated professionals at IMLS—who have diligently worked to fulfill Congress's intent and serve the American public—have been sidelined. Their work supports every state library through the Grants to States program, uplifting tribal and Native Hawaiian libraries. They invest in the leadership development of the museum, library, and archives workforce, and advance national research and innovation through the National Leadership Grants and the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian programs. All employees were required to turn in government phones and other property before leaving the building, and their email accounts are now disabled. If you'd like to speak out against this action, please click the link in the comment. Thank you for reading and considering.
