Last week, we celebrated the unveiling of a Captain Planet Foundation Project Learning Garden at Alyce Taylor Elementary in Sparks, NV, where a group of third-grade students helped to install the learning garden by renovating existing garden beds, filling them with organic soil and planting a variety of vegetables and herbs.   A Project Learning Garden is comprised of easy-to-assemble raised garden beds, soil, seeds and a mobile cooking cart. The school also receives literacy and science learning supplies and tools to take learning into the garden. Educators are given thematic activities centered on standards and learning outcomes. A library of garden guides and tips for growing, harvesting, composting, cooking with kids, and more is also part of the garden program.   Schools with learning gardens report that students benefit from learning about nutrition as they expand their palates, taste-test healthy foods, and learn more about the origins of what they grow.   This was one of three gardens we donated to schools across our region. The other two schools that received a Project Learning Garden were Pioneer Union School in Somerset, CA and Mount Rose K-8 in Reno, NV.   Just another way we’re changing the way the world eats - and helping to create the next generation of healthy eaters. #FeelGoodFriday

🍏 FirstFruits Farms LLC & Raley's Food For Families Join Forces to Fight Hunger 🍏 As part of the Take A Bite Out of Hunger campaign, FirstFruits Farms and Raley's have generously donated 30,000 pounds of apples to the Food Bank For Monterey County! 🙌 On Tuesday, April 1, the campaign kicked off at Santa Rita Elementary School with an incredible community effort. Last month, Raley’s team members participated in the annual Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission’s Walk a Mile in My Shoes event. This walk is an annual fundraiser and outreach awareness event that Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission does every year, rain or shine, to help the homeless and hungry in Northern Nevada. #FeelGoodFriday

Earlier this week, Raley’s team members came together to help distribute food to over 500 households and families in need. 🎄Our Support Center team members had a great time volunteering at The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Elves Corporate Volunteer Night on Monday, December 16, where they counted and sorted toys, stocking stuffers and books to give kids presents to open on Christmas.   We also had an Angel Tree up at our Support Center where team members could participate and purchase items for kids in the program, and the volunteer night was the culmination of our support.   To everyone who purchased an Angel Tree item, donated money, donated toys or volunteered, "THANK YOU!" so much for participating and supporting this cause. Because of you, more than 6,000 kids will get to experience the joy of Christmas morning. #FeelGoodFriday
