An international non-profit organization working to create a better future for people and nature
About us
The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization working in more than 60 countries at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests. We are building an alliance to create a better future for people and nature by making responsible business the new normal. By bringing diverse allies together we are making deep-rooted change on some of our most pressing social and environmental issues. Together, we amplify the voices of farmers and forest communities, improve livelihoods, protect biodiversity, and help people mitigate and adapt to climate change in bold and effective ways. Join our alliance. Our alliance is all about changing the way the world produces, sources and consumes. Every company has the power to help build a better future by sourcing commodities responsibly and adapting its business model to become more sustainable. By joining us, you are helping meet the increase in demand for responsibly made products. And when the demand is there, farmers and foresters work hard to meet it, helping drive real, meaningful impact. Everyone wins when we bring the right people together. The Rainforest Alliance has recently merged with UTZ, a Netherlands-based program and label for sustainable farming worldwide. The future of food starts with resilience! 💪 The Rainforest Alliance is excited to join Reuters Events: Transform Food & Agriculture Europe 2025 in Amsterdam on June 3-4 to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: building a nature-positive and climate-resilient food system. In the face of rising geopolitical tensions and changing climates, the need for resilience in global food systems is more urgent than ever. By uniting food and agriculture leaders from across the value chain at #TransformFood, we can work together to accelerate the transition to a food system that benefits both people and the planet. 🌎 Our Director Europe, Corporate Engagement & Partnership, Stephanie Gerteiser, will be moderating a roundtable on the EU Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR) to discuss: ✅ How certification can help farmers prove their EUDR alignment to buyers ✅ The role of brands and retailers in supporting supply chains toward compliance ✅ How farmers and buyers can collaborate beyond compliance on conservation, reforestation, and biodiversity Learn more & register here! 👉 https://bit.ly/4lupq70 #RainforestAlliance #Reuters #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateResilience #FoodSystems #Sustainability #Amsterdam

Ribbiting conservation news! 🐸 The Rainforest Alliance is excited to shine a spotlight on The Tropical Amphibian Resilience Initiative (TARI), a groundbreaking five-year project aimed at protecting amphibian species across Panamá, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. Bringing together the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), the Smithsonian National Zoological Park Conservation Biology Institute, the Amphibian Survival Alliance, and funding from the Bezos Earth Fund, TARI represents an unprecedented leap toward halting amphibian extinctions in the Neotropics—a region that harbors nearly 50% of the world’s amphibian biodiversity. 🌱 At the Rainforest Alliance, we know that real impact happens when we work together. Just as we collaborate with farming and forest communities, companies, and governments to protect nature and transform agriculture, initiatives like TARI show how collective action can drive lasting change for endangered species. 🤝 Learn more about this game-changing project here! 👉 https://bit.ly/4ceUTG2 📸 Photo credit: Brian Gratwicke, Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute 1. It’s no secret that almond consumption has soared over the past two decades. From almond milk to almond flour, the nut’s popularity has been rising thanks to its versatility in snacks, gluten-free baking, and as a base for dairy alternatives. 🥛 Since 2023, the Rainforest Alliance has been working with ranches in California—which produces an astonishing 80% of the world’s almonds—to embrace better growing practices and become #RainforestAllianceCertified. The youth is the future! 💚 In September 2024, we launched an open call in Calakmul, Campeche, inviting young people to join Our Forest, Our Future—an initiative designed to strengthen knowledge in community forest management through hands-on learning. We’re excited to kick off Phase 1 with 77 selected participants who will begin their learning journey to engage in the productive chain activities of their ejidos, ultimately enabling them to integrate effectively into #CommunityForestManagement. 🌱 This initiative will continue through 2026, supporting youth to play a key role in sustainable land management. 🔑 We celebrate the passion of these young learners, the trust of their families, and the commitment of ejido authorities. Together, we’re paving the way for a future where youth lead the charge in sustainable land management! 🌿 #RainforestAlliance #Rainforests #OurForestOurFuture #Youth #WeAreSelvaMaya #WeAreAllIn
