We were so inspired by this incredible piece of rail history — a WWI-era boxcar, gifted to New Jersey by France in 1949 as part of the “Merci Train,” is finally making its way home after being lost for nearly 67 years. Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gNKuRpCN
How was it found?
After disappearing in the late 1950s, this treasured boxcar was discovered tucked away in a Tennessee field, later stored quietly in a Kansas City warehouse — its identity unknown for decades. Thanks to the passion of rail historians and the dedication of the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey, this beautiful piece of history is coming home.
And we couldn’t be more grateful to see it return — restored, celebrated, and shared for future generations to enjoy.
But it does make you think...
“If they were using RailPulse… they could have avoided 67 years of being lost.”
