  • 𝑳𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝑶𝒇𝒇 𝟒 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝟔 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔—𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰’𝒎 𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒔. Since entering the Environmental Science / Geology industry 6 years ago, four layoffs have been experienced—each one tied to market shifts, restructuring, or project cuts. The most recent? It happened three hours after closing on a first home. A day that should’ve been defined by stability turned into yet another sudden ending. ⸻ 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬. • Proposals were written and won • Billability stayed high • Positive feedback was consistently received • But each role still ended the same way—outside of personal control It’s hard not to wonder: Is this just bad luck? Or is this industry no longer sustainable for early-career professionals? ⸻ 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲—𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧? Advice is welcome—from anyone in the industry who has made it through similar ups and downs. Or those who pivoted to something more stable. ⸻ #EnvironmentalScience #GeologyCareers #CareerUncertainty #Layoffs #JobSearch2025 #CareerAdvice #LinkedInCommunity #ResilienceInWork

  • 𝑰𝒔 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒂 𝒕𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕? It’s unclear whether this is isolated to a specific industry—or becoming more widespread—but something has been noticed: Jobs are being moved overseas at a consistent pace. At one company, multiple waves of offshoring have occurred, mostly shifting work to other countries. It no longer feels like a matter of if a role will be impacted, but when. Many of the open positions being filled in recent years have been offshore roles. Onshore hiring appears to be shrinking—even for white-collar, highly specialized positions. ⸻ 𝐀 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠—𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝? This topic doesn’t seem to be discussed much: • Not by recruiters • Not in hiring trends reports • Not even in political or economic conversations Manufacturing jobs often get the spotlight, but high-wage roles—technical, strategic, operational—are quietly being sent offshore too. If this trend continues, what will the long-term effect be on the domestic workforce? On consumer buying power? On economic sustainability? ⸻ #Offshoring #FutureOfWork #JobSecurity #HiringTrends #WorkforceStrategy #EconomicShift #LinkedInCommunity

  • 👥 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 aren’t just messengers. They’re the 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞 of your strategy. They manage 𝐮𝐩, 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, and 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬—yet often go unseen. • 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆—𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒂 𝒋𝒐𝒃 𝒊𝒔𝒏’𝒕 “𝒃𝒂𝒅”… 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈? There’s so much pressure to “find your passion” or “do what you love”— But no one really talks about the jobs that aren’t toxic… just quietly draining. You don’t hate it. You don’t love it. You’re just enduring it. Day after day. The meetings are exhausting. The Sunday dread creeps in. You start questioning yourself more than the work. And because it’s not that bad, it’s easy to feel guilty for even thinking about leaving. ⸻ 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐞 “𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐝” 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡—𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭. This might be what burnout really looks like— Not dramatic… just persistent. Quiet. Heavy. How did you know it was time to move on from a job that wasn’t awful—just misaligned? ⸻ #CareerBurnout #WorkLifeClarity #QuietMisery #NotBadNotRight #CareerGrowth #LinkedInCommunity

  • 𝑱𝒐𝒃 𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 2025 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅—𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒚. Increased efficiency through AI has been embraced by many employers. As a result, new expectations have been placed on applicants—often involving multiple skill sets that previously belonged to entirely different roles. Job descriptions are now being written to include: • Strategic planning • Copywriting and social media execution • Data analysis • (Occasionally) coding capabilities These roles are being offered at entry-level pay, with in-office requirements justified more by internal preference than necessity. Interviews are being handled by automated systems. Recruiter scripts are being used—often without a deep understanding of the actual role. In some cases, basic questions about responsibilities cannot be answered during early rounds. The feeling is that more is being asked, while less is being offered in return. Job seekers are being placed in a loop of applying, waiting, and repeating—without clarity, connection, or real engagement. ⸻ 𝐀 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬. The value of adaptability is being emphasized—while compensation, stability, and clarity have not kept pace. Many are wondering if job searches are now being shaped more by automation than by alignment. ⸻ #JobSearch2025 #AIImpact #HiringTrends #WorkCultureShift #RecruitmentRealities #LinkedInCommunity

  • 𝑺𝒊𝒙 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔. 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒔. 𝑵𝒐 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓. I just went through one of the most exhausting interview processes I’ve ever experienced—and walked away with nothing. Here’s how it played out: • Phone screen with a junior recruiter • Hiring manager call • 3-hour take-home test • Panel with two team members • Peer manager interview • Final round back with the hiring manager That’s six stages spread over three months. After all of that? A cold rejection. Not “bad fit from the start.” Not “technical mismatch.” Just… “we’re going in a different direction.” ⸻ 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞? It’s draining. It’s demotivating. And it’s starting to feel like a red flag. Are others seeing hiring processes this long? Have we normalized interviews that feel more like endurance tests than conversations? ⸻ 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒐𝒑 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒂 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: [https://lnkd.in/gdb2taUJ] #InterviewExperience #HiringProcess #CandidateExperience #JobSearchReality #RecruitmentTransparency #OpenToWork #LinkedInCommunity

  • 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒋𝒐𝒃 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔? Even one year in, restlessness starts to creep in. Not because the job is bad. Not because I’m not performing well. But because something in me constantly seeks change. A new challenge. A new system. A new energy. It’s not about entitlement or chasing some perfect dream. I know this is what adult life often looks like. I chose stability over passion (I wanted to be an artist), and I work hard to meet expectations. Still, the feeling of being suffocated never fully goes away. I don’t want to do the bare minimum and zone out like some coworkers do— But I also don’t want to jump ship every year and feel like I’m always starting over. So I’m asking honestly: How do you manage this feeling and still commit long-term? What helped you stay grounded in a role when your mind kept drifting elsewhere? ⸻ #CareerGrowth #JobLongevity #EarlyCareerAdvice #CorporateLife #RestlessnessAtWork #PerformanceAndPurpose #LinkedInCommunity

Team dynamics seem a bit off. Some colleagues receive more praise. Others are engaged more regularly in discussion. Even a meeting meant to celebrate the promotion felt… tense. Almost like a warning. Nothing specific has been said. But a sense of being on the outside keeps showing up. It’s not about self-worth—it’s about the subtle ways people are treated differently. ⸻ 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞? Is it usually just perception, or are these things worth bringing up? • Why Do So Many Teams Still Skip Technical Design Before Building? You’d think with experience, we’d stop skipping the step that saves us the most pain: the design doc. Yet here we are—smart engineers still jumping into implementation with “we’ll figure it out” energy. We’ve all seen what happens: • Mid-sprint architecture debates • Misaligned assumptions across teams • Edge cases blowing up in staging (or worse, prod) • The classic: “We need to refactor this whole thing” Design docs feel slow. But skipping them is slower. You just end up paying the price in rework, tech debt, and confusion. AI can speed up code and even suggest architecture patterns. But it can’t rescue a feature built on a shaky foundation. If you don’t know where you’re going, no amount of velocity will help. Curious—what’s your team’s norm? Do you treat technical design as essential or optional? ⸻ #EngineeringLeadership #TechDebt #SoftwareDesign #DevCulture #BuildBetter
