About us
PEARL - The Professional Electrical Apparatus Reconditioning League - is the professional trade organization of companies that supply quality surplus and remanufactured electrical equipment and apparatus. PEARL member companies must meet strict technical, safety, operational and insurance requirements; and are committed to the safe reconditioning and remanufacturing of electrical apparatus and equipment that has previously been in service. Technical Standards - ANSI Accredited Standards Developer PEARL is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) developer of reconditioning standards for returning electrical equipment to safe and reliable service. It collects, creates, and disseminates information, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the proper recycling and reuse of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, fuses and other electrical power equipment. PEARL's goal is to develop a set of technical standards for reconditioning electrical equipment used in industrial and commercial installations and accepted by a pool of industry professionals and stakeholders. Annual Conference PEARL sponsors an annual conference, the Electrical Safety, Reliability, and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition. Attendees are professionals concerned with the safety and reliability of remanufactured and recycled electrical equipment and apparatus. To learn more visit us at PEARL1.org.

PEARL had the opportunity to interview one of our valued board members, Kristen Habeeb, to learn more about her career path and perspective on the electrical reconditioning industry. Below is a preview of her interview: How did you get involved in this industry and what is your background? I’ve worked full-time at North American Switchgear, Inc. for almost 30 years. My dad, Bob Jordan, started the business in 1980 and my brothers and I grew up working here in our summers. I didn’t originally plan to work for my dad and instead was a pre-med student at Case Western Reserve University. My senior year I realized how much I love being part of our family business. I became fully engrained in the unique niche of power circuit breakers and never looked back. The second half of Industry Innovation Day did not disappoint as we heard from several members from PEARL’s leadership team. As the sessions continued, eagerness grew for the sponsor & exhibitor raffle! People are the lifeblood of any successful organization, and understanding employees’ intent to stay or leave can help drive success. Dr. Jeffrey Daniels, DBA of CBIONE shared his knowledge on this important subject. Jeffrey focuses on helping small businesses with strategy, understanding their multicultural workforce, and the factors associated with recruiting, retaining, and coaching their employees. PEARL Board of Director, Dave Kreger of Premier Power Maintenance, covered NFP 70B and its impact on maintenance, safety, and reliability. By complying with its guidelines, organizations can significantly reduce the risk of electrical accidents, creating a safer environment for all employees. PEARL’s committees are where a majority of our initiatives are thought of, developed, and executed. PEARL has been fortunate to have passionate members that go above and beyond to grow our industry. The Employee Development Committee is led by Terry Wanamaker of Quality Switchgear Inc. The Marketing & Membership Committee is led by Oliver Tiongco of Electrical Now. The Standards Committee is led by Dan Hook, PE of CBS Field Services and Paul Grein of Group CBS. The Conference Committee is led by Denise Green of Group CBS. Industry Innovations Day concludes with a Disco Party, a great way to celebrate the past few days of contributions, learning, and networking amongst PEARL members.
