Handling the wet mount slides for Parasitology in clinical applications has been a major challenge. Because of the sample preparation process, that involves fluid pipetted onto the slide and a coverslip “dropped” on the sample, there are so many things that can go wrong with the glass slide during preparation. Separating the imaging technology from the slide handling part has allowed a rapid R&D to Production deployment, while customizing an extra feature to house and handle the wet mount slides. This is achieved on the same scanning system that is also able to handle regular specimens related to bacteriology, Paper smears and tissue samples.
