“Protect What We Love”: My New Article on the Amazing Climate Ad for Today's Super Bowl
I hope you will read my article for Mom's Clean Air Force on the first ever climate ad plea for immediate action (excerpted below):

What makes this nonpartisan ad from the nonprofit Science Moms so momentous is that it airs as Trump—who has repeatedly called climate change a hoax—has been stuffing his cabinet with science deniers and reversing every federal effort to reduce the carbon pollution that drives ever-worsening climate disasters.
Here is the ad: https://lnkd.in/eyXH9e4h
“I don’t only care about climate change because I’m a scientist—I care about climate change because I’m a mom,” as Science Mom and climatologist Katharine Hayhoe told me. “Climate change is already impacting the people, places, and things we love most. And who doesn’t want to protect what we love? That’s why, whoever we are, we are already the perfect person to advocate for climate action. ”
This Super Bowl is taking place in the rebuilt Superdome, made infamous during the worst US climate disaster. This is the 20th anniversary of Katrina, which displaced over a million people, with 600,000 unable to return to their homes. August 29, 2005 is seared into my memory since that’s the day my brother lost his home in Pass Christian, Mississippi—the site of the biggest storm surge in U.S. history, 20 feet....
But that climate disaster is now being rivaled in total damage by the L.A. fires, which were a major motivation for the ad. ScienceMoms partnered with the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund to support recovery efforts in LA through this link: https://lnkd.in/eBhRWPm7
The ad is expected to be seen by some 11 million people: 2.5 million in L.A. and 8.5 million who stream the game.
