It sucks for everyone that works at/travels through LHR that the power outage forced a shutdown. Airports are critical transportation infrastructure and they need to be site hardened. Too much is at stake. We've been off the grid since June 2021: our entire landside terminal, entire airside terminal, entire airfield, the airport hotel and the airport gas station, all powered by our microgrid. We entered into a public-private partnership for: • energy diversity with natural gas and solar + • lower energy costs to us and our airline partners + • less carbon output vs. before = Resiliency and Redundancy at Pittsburgh International Airport. Seemed like a good time to remind everyone that innovation is in Pittsburgh's DNA, including at its airport.

PJ Dick is partnered with Walnut Capital to renovate a former UPMC South Side medical office building into 58 apartments. The highest levels of the eight-floor building have amazing views of the sea of rooftops, old church bell towers, and the downtown skylight. HDR and I are grateful to Engineers' Society of Western PA to be recognized as part of the remarkable project team that won their "2024 Alternative Delivery Project of the Year" for the I-64 Improvements and Kanawha River Bridge. Presenting for ESWP and accepting the Award on behalf of the team’s partners are LtoR: Stephen Shanley– ESWP 1st Vice President and Director at Allegheny County DPW; Jeff Slezak, PE – PJ Dick - Trumbull - Lindy; Tom Hesmond – Brayman Construction Corporation ; Todd Rumbaugh – WVDOT Secretary of Transportation; myself; and, Cheryl Moon – ESWP President and The Lindy Group. Also want to recognize HDR’s win for being on the project team for the "2024 Railroad Project of the Year", and HDR’s own Herb Higginbotham for being named the very prestigious "William Metcalf Award" winner for 2024 for being the “very outstanding engineer” that he is, he joins an impressive list of past winners.
