Many thanks to our team of addiction experts for sharing their invaluable knowledge over the course of two free conferences yesterday, one for professionals and one for the public. 'Adolescents & the Complex World of Substances' featured registered nurse Lisa Zwerk, social worker Mariah DeYoung and psychiatrist Dr. Talal Khan--all of the Pine Rest Retreat Clinic-- offering an overview of the drug, vaping and alcohol dangers today's kids are up against. Parents and professionals alike learned about common drug slang emojis, the unique dangers of 'Kraton', a widely available and unregulated new substance, and an eye opening look at harmful products that mimic popular toys and candy and are being targeted to children. Valuable tips on how to talk to teens about substance use were also shared. At Pine Rest, we’re committed to providing families and our community partners with the knowledge and support they need to navigate challenges and build healthier, substance-free futures. Thank you to our experts and to everyone who attended!
