Our very own Phil Barker was recently joined by his wife, Michelle, to be honored by the governor as one of the longest-serving commonwealth employees. 🥳🕺 Phil started at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency in December of 1984. He deployed five times that year to help people recover from various disasters. He was appointed director of our Western Area Office in 2011, and still serves in that role today. Phil was on the scene at: - U.S. Air Flight 427 crash (Sept. 8, 1994) - Lithuania Office of Civil Security National Conference (1995) - Flight 93 crash (Sept. 11, 2001) - G20 Summit in Pittsburgh (2009) - Papal Visit, World Meeting of Families Conference in Philadelphia (September 2015) Phil shares his emergency skills by speaking to groups and teaching official courses. "Bottom line: It’s all about helping others," he says. We can't thank Phil enough for his service. Pennsylvania sure is lucky to have him. 👏
