  • On March 27, 2025, Peerless Technologies Corporation celebrates 25 years in business – growing from a one-person startup in Dayton, Ohio, to more than 400 employees nationwide. Each weekday until March 27, we’re spotlighting one of 25 Peerless employees who exemplify the people who took us from a tiny services company to a leader in R&D, Digital Transformation, Electronic Warfare and much more. Today, meet Michelle Taylor, Program Manager Name: Michelle Taylor Time with Peerless: 1 yr 4 months Role at Peerless: Program Manager What do you enjoy most about your job?   My team! I lean on each of them a LOT, and they are proving to be a diverse, flexible, resilient and very talented team. I also appreciate that our project is closely tied to a critical Air Force mission. The value of our project is clear. What are you most proud of in your career so far? (or) What’s one project or achievement you’re particularly proud of?  My civilian career is rather short, but the turnaround in the attitude of our customer in the last 2 months is certainly encouraging. We hope it continues to improve with the hard work of our team, and of course more prayer from my church family. What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?   There is so much behind the scenes. Coding is only a very small portion of the real work. Many setup details, decisions and especially loads of documentation must come together before even a chunk of code can be delivered to a customer. It is a massive lift for a small team. What’s your favorite part about the company culture?  I enjoy that we are allowed to experiment and find the best solution to tackle problems as a team.   And if you have ever served in the military, please tell us about your service (branch, role, etc)    I joined the USAF as a young Airman pharmacy technician in 1995, transitioned to maintenance officer in 2002, and retired in 2023 as a Deputy Group Commander, helping a former colleague run a Maintenance Group. My service career was a great adventure, with great people I worked closely with. There is still never a dull moment with great people in my new mission!

Each weekday until March 27, we’re spotlighting  one of 25 Peerless employees who exemplify the people who took us from a tiny services company to a leader in R&D, Digital Transformation, Embedded System and much more. Today, meet Michael Wallace, Director, Proposals & Communications; Corporate Quality Manager Name: Michael Wallace Time with Peerless: 6 ½ years Role at Peerless: Director, Proposals & Communications; Corporate Quality Manager What do you enjoy most about your job? The variety – the proposals department works with virtually every part of the business to help write and edit a compelling story of why we should be the company selected for any given contract. Working with all the talented people at Peerless under sometimes tight deadlines is rewarding and a lot of fun. What’s one project or achievement you’re particularly proud of? In April 2020, at the height of the Covid pandemic and when remote work was still new to everyone, a large group came together to build and submit a complex proposal that totaled over 4,500 pages. The hours were long; Easter Dinner was cut short for most of us, but it was rewarding to be part of a team that could pull that off. What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job? That a compelling communication – a proposal, a social media post, a marketing piece, whatever – all comes down to effective storytelling. If you can tell a great story in a way people will read, you can accomplish your goal of getting someone to take a desired action. What’s your favorite part about company culture? That every employee makes the time to help another Peerless employee when they could. Everyone is busy; we all have full calendars and a million demands – but we all help each other out. Military Service: Texas Army National Guard – I was a Cavalry Scout, then Infantry in a Long Range Surveillance Detachment. I finished as an instructor at the state NCO Academy.

Planning and leading our effort to land our first and largest support contract at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division.   What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job? Everyone performs business development, which comes down to simply delivering the information that people will need, when they need it to win.   What’s your favorite part about the company culture? A combination of the positive spirit of possibilities, the respect for diligence and teamwork, and the unified desire to do what it takes to win the privilege to serve a customer and share rewards.   And if you have ever served in the military, please tell us about your service (branch, role, etc) I was in the civil servant for 5 years in acquisition and engineering and was assigned some daunting tasks. I wrote the Air Force’s Digital Data Strategy, revised the Air Force budgeting process instructions (PPBS), produced a movie on supportability engineering (did not win Oscar), and developed and proposed a logistics engineering curriculum to the Commander of AFIT.

I’m passionate about leading a high-tech organization where innovation and cutting-edge solutions are at the forefront of everything we do. What really sets my job apart is the chance to build and grow an exceptional team of talented individuals who share my vision of creating a career, not just a job. I thrive in a small business environment, which allows for agility, flexibility, and a customer-centric approach that truly sets us apart from larger corporations. What’s one project or achievement you’re particularly proud of? I'm incredibly proud of the significant progress we've made in establishing the Peerless Innovation Center  as the R&D engine of our company. Through hard work and dedication, we've not only instantiated a new business area but also created a culture of experimentation, learning, and collaboration. The results are evident: our R&D activities have grown significantly, with new technologies and services emerging that are poised to take the market by storm. But what's truly impressive is that we've achieved this growth without sacrificing the success of our existing programs.. It's a testament to the talent and dedication of our team, who have consistently demonstrated their ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver results. What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job? What is cool about my job is the ability to work in an agile small business that has the capabilities of many large businesses. I love the flexibility and speed with which we can make decisions, pivot when necessary, and innovate in response to customer needs. As a small business, we're not burdened by the weight of red tape or slow-moving corporate machinery. Instead, we have the agility to respond quickly to opportunities and challenges, while still having access to resources and expertise that many larger companies provide. What’s your favorite part about the company culture? Our emphasis on innovation and customer satisfaction. What really sets us apart is the way we've created an environment where talented individuals can share ideas and drive meaningful change. It values people over process – we empower our teams to take ownership, learn from their mistakes, all while keeping a sharp focus on delivering results.

The opportunity to work on a wide range of problems and technologies and having a lot of smart people around with loads of patience. What are you most proud of in your career so far? (or) What’s one project or achievement you’re particularly proud of? I'm proud of how I've transitioned into my first "pure" software role outside of traditional engineering. It's been a challenge, and I’m grateful for the support of the team to help me get up to speed quickly. I was especially excited to be able to contribute to a major software update for our customer within a few months of my arrival. What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job? There's a lot more to it than just, as I heard it so eloquently put, "turning caffeine into code". Especially in our refactor efforts, a lot of energy goes into things like architecture decisions and test planning. What’s your favorite part about the company culture? I appreciate how my team embraces people's unique skills across all roles and encourages a collaborative environment that helps us deliver the best product we can to our customers.
