Tax Day is on April 15. Here’s a tip from Laurie Wolfe, CPA, CFP®, Managing Director at Peapack Private: Filing increasingly gets more difficult. Even if you have an ‘easy’ tax return, you may have moved to a different state or you may have sold a home. It seems there is always some complicating factor. Remember, you can extend the time to file your taxes, but not the time to pay. Make sure to settle any owed taxes by the deadline to avoid penalties. The form to file your federal extension is Form 4868.
