🗣️ We’re going LIVE and we're talking TikTok! 🗣️ Another deadline is looming, and here we are again - stuck in the same 'will they or won’t they?!' moment. But if the past few years have shown us anything, it’s this: the creator economy has been built on borrowed space - and the most important thing a creator can do right now is own the relationship with their community. So let’s talk about how. On April 8th at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, Patreon CEO Jack Conte will chat with creators Jade Fox and Chris Klemens on Patreon for Creators to break it all down: navigating platform shifts, diversifying income, and building something that lasts. 🫵 Mark your calendars, bring your questions. Come chat! https://lnkd.in/eR9UCiTv

Really excited to announce Patreon’s new first-of-its-kind partnerships with Sony Music Entertainment and Wondery as well as a ton of new & exciting product features for podcast creators and networks! This was a long time in the making. Thank you so much to team Sony Jaimie Meyers Steve Ackerman Emily Rasekh and team Wondery Darren Nielson Ty Jacobson Vince Tasso for their partnership and collaboration. And to our amazing team at Patreon for their high craft and innovation in support of these partnerships Bhavik Singh Philip Ho Drew Rowny Shannon Ma and especially my partner through it all Stephanie Alexis Smellie.
New: Podcasters made more than $472 million on Patreon last year, up 35% from 2023. The company now has more than 6.7 million paid podcast subscriptions out of more than 100 million active memberships — free and paid — across the platform. With these numbers, podcasting is the most valuable content category on Patreon. “Podcasters are taking us as the leader and as their true home for their business and community engagement,” said Stephanie Alexis Smellie in a conversation with me. Also today: the company inked new partnerships with Sony Music Entertainment and Wondery to bring certain shows onto the service with paywalled content and perks. All of which is to say that most people think of podcasting as an ad-driven medium, which is true, but subscriptions are becoming a bigger part of the strategy. And seemingly, established subscription-oriented networks are looking beyond their existing platforms to find new audiences. How do you interpret this new data? I’d be curious what you make of it. Let me know in the comments and my full story is also below.

Last year, podcasters on Patreon earned over $472 million from over 6.7 million paid memberships 📈 And today, we're excited to launch our new podcast network program — in collaboration with select Sony Music Entertainment and Wondery shows 🎙️ Bloomberg has the scoop: https://lnkd.in/g_gGFbqR With this initiative, select podcasts from both these major podcast networks will also be available on Patreon, including: “Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness,” “Lipstick on the Rim,” and “This Is History” from Sony Music; and “Scamfluencers,” “Killer Psyche,” and "Kurt Krömer - Feelings" from Wondery. More networks will be coming soon 👀 See why Patreon is the best place on the internet for independent podcasters and media networks alike: https://lnkd.in/eZvqXXgy

The future of film isn’t coming from inside Hollywood - it’s already happening, all around you, right now. 📽️ 📱 Camp Film Fest is proof of what internet-born filmmakers can do when they have the tools and resources to think bigger. Come join us in Austin! 🎟️ https://lnkd.in/gUBjBnQR
For the past 6 months we've been building the next iteration of the Sundance Institute aimed at uplifting, validating, and connecting internet born storytellers. Our core-belief is that the next great filmmakers, directors, and artists are not just coming through film school. They are emerging on corners of the internet that didn't exist 10 years ago. They are telling stories online and connecting with audiences in ways that old systems can't. However today there is no clear path to go from the Internet to the big screen or from your bedroom to the Oscars. That's why we're building a bridge. Alongside our friends at Patreon, Epidemic Sound, Notion, & .Store Domains we're hosting our first film festival here in Austin, TX. We'll be convening 1200 people to witness 11 films from filmmakers who started in their bedrooms, workshops from some the greats, & incredible live music. We're entering a new era of storytelling. Catcha ya in Austin this April :)

It’s tough out there for creators right now. Our recent State of Create report found burnout, financial stress, and constant negativity online are taking a toll on mental health. That’s why we're so excited to announce the launch of our Mental Health and Wellness Resource Hub in partnership with Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit offering free, confidential, 24/7 mental health support via text. The hub is designed as a dedicated space to support well-being, with expert-backed resources on topics like mental health, digital safety, financial resilience, and community building. Because support is important - whether you're a creator or not. Explore the hub here: https://lnkd.in/eB8MBsrD
