The future of transportation is being built today—and Quanta is proud to play a role in making it happen. As the demand for zero-emission freight grows, so does the need for infrastructure that can support it. PAR Western Line Contractors, LLC, a Quanta operating company, helped bring FM Harbor to life, delivering a high-powered charging depot at the Port of Long Beach—all while prioritizing safety and precision. At Quanta, we don’t just power homes and businesses. We enable grid modernization, large-scale electrification, and the infrastructure that keeps industries moving forward. From upgrading power delivery to constructing the sites that make next-generation solutions possible, we’re committed to being the premier provider in this evolving landscape. A huge congratulations to Forum Mobility and all partners involved in this milestone moment for clean energy and transportation!
What a great day. On January 22, we celebrated a ribbon cutting for FM Harbor, our new flagship truck charging depot in the Port of Long Beach. It’s a big milestone for our company, and for zero emission freight in general. The event had over 200 attendees (40 carriers!), with speeches by Matt LeDucq, CEO of Forum Mobility; Rex Richardson, Mayor of Long Beach; Bonnie Lowenthal, President of Long Beach Harbor Commission; Mario Cordero, CEO of Port of Long Beach; Liane Randolph, Chair of California Air Resources Board; David Hochschild, Chair of California Energy Commission; Gideon Kracov, SCAQMD and CARB Boardmember; and Matt Schrap, CEO of Harbor Trucking Association. Forum Mobility was founded with a vision for making the transition to zero emission for fleets both simple and equitable -improving the environment but also helping truckers grow their fleets and thrive. Speakers addressed the difficulty of charting new paths and also the joy and fulfillment of creating new things, things we know we need but do not yet have. Commissioner Lowenthal and Mario Cordero spoke to the pleasure of seeing plans on paper turn into actual trucks and chargers. Chair Randolph spoke of CARB’s commitment to continue to find a path forward on zero emission trucking – including increased funding. Chair Hochschild highlighted California’s history of leadership in commercializing clean tech solutions. He drew a parallel to solar: in 2004 it took a year for the world to build a gigawatt of solar; in 2010 it took a month, 2016 a week, 2022 a day, 2023 half a day. Solar went from too expensive to take seriously to the lowest cost and fastest growing energy source in the world – and that’s the trajectory that ZEV trucking is on. Matt Schrap, batting clean-up, spoke eloquently of all the progress the drayage community has made to reduce impact while providing essential services. FM Harbor is a jewel of a site, with 44 high speed dispensers and 9 MW of power. This great project was made possible through the collaboration and dedication of our valued partners: · Port of Long Beach: Our landlord, leading the way in emissions reduction for the community · Southern California Edison (SCE): Providing a lot of clean power · Zerova Technologies USA: Delivering reliable charger technology · GAA Architects, Inc.: Designing a state-of-the-art command center to enhance safety for drivers and fleets · PAR Western Line Contractors, LLC: Leading construction safely with zero injuries And a special thank you to our customers— Amazon, Talon Logistics Inc., ReDefined Transportation, Legacy Drayage Inc., JASPEM TRUCKLINE INC., Green Fleet Systems, AI Trans, and Hunter Drayage—for trusting us to power your transition to zero-emission freight. There are still depot reservations available – if you are interested in combining the lowest cost electric truck lease on the market (via Climate United) with reliable charging in a convenient location, Ron A Hunt can set you up.
